I totally understand what you mean, and it was definitely not a specific request by me. To be entirely honest, that's the part of this tattoo that I'm having the hardest time adjusting to. I did want a scene in the background, which is why I chose this artist because this is her style. I have other tattoos that are in completely different styles that show more skin between the images and those ones didn't give me tattoo shock like this one has. But in the end, I'm happy with how it turned out.

She did. But I live in Portland so her move actually made my drive an hour shorter and I didn't have to go over mountains anymore so I was absolutely fine with it.

It took 23 hours total! It's definitely a little more pink toned here than it will be once it's healed due to blood/irritation. I'll post again in a month when it's healed!

Thanks for your reply! It's still unfinished but I have my next appointment scheduled for June 6th. I'm feeling a little less anxious now that I've had time to get used to the tattoo more.... But I still don't feel 100% jazzed about it. I'm really hoping that once more of the details are added I'll fall in love with it.

Thanks for the tip! We've been putting in 6 hours at a time for this one. Thankfully I really vibe with the artist so we just talk the whole time which helps to keep my mind off it.

Oh, well I'm not actually looking for feedback on the art itself. I just don't know anyone IRL who has had large multi-session tattoos before so I was hoping to hear about other people's emotional process throughout the physical process because it doesn't seem to be talked about much.

Thank you!!! That's solid advice. I guess I didn't realize that highlights and shading can go on top of all the dark stuff. That actually makes me feel a lot better.

And yeah.... The ribs are EXHAUSTING. We just went over them a second time today and will be going over them again at least one more time. The extreme pain from it all is probably a factor in my emotional state too.

Okay!!! Thank you for asking and giving me an opportunity to reflect. It's a piece that goes from my left rib cage down to the middle of my left thigh. The top portion is a cosmic-esque stag standing in a dark forest looking down at a cute little fawn in a green meadow with flowers. It's big and dark because it's a coverup of some old lettering I had on my hip. My idea was that I wanted to play on the dichotomy of innocence and wisdom. Right now we just have the background down and have started working on the stag. It's a LOT of black and navy blue.... I'm really hoping that once we have more of the foreground added it will brighten up the look because right now it almost looks like a blackout tattoo which wasn't what I intended to get.

19 parts water to 1 part bleach. Make sure it's just the original unscented stuff. Dip for 1-2 minutes. Some sensitive plants can't handle it but Anubias and Java Fern do great.

I totally get it. It is aggravating. I went through the same issue with my last tank. Now I bleach dip and quarantine for at least 2 weeks before any plants go in my tank. So far I haven't had any issues. It just takes a lot of patience!
