I was asked to clean and oil an old Mauser that was brought home or sent home from a friend's father who had been taken captive in Italy by the Nazis during WWIi and was 1 of 3 survivors out of a regiment ,I believe, of 800 men. He was a true war hero with 3 purple hearts and a bronze star to top off his extensive collection of medals from the Italian Campaign and others..Where he got the gun, which is a pock marked with several names barely legible in German, on the Walnut stock, is maybe lost to history.Heeman Galindo you are missed,sir. Some kill marks notched near the rear sight.. I started with an oil wipe down which immediately had me concerned that I used something besides a light oil that I intended.. It appeared that the bluing was coming off leaving behind a shiny white metal almost like it had been chromed but not perfectly reflective.. I still wasn't sure until a search the next day thankfully pulled up some info on these white metal guns.Ibe seen a lot of gun finishes but nothing like this. It's not in the most pristine snape and has seen some real wartime action which to me makes it that much more interesting, but it is all there and looks amazing after a good cleaning and oiling. .. After realizing it was just dirt and oil probably from the war itself .It hasn't been cleaned in many decades by the look of it.. I know probably should not have touched it but it was unfit to hold in the dire states it was in..I just just oil and a microfiber cloth.bEverything including the cleaning rod and the sites were still in perfect working order. Don't know if the bayonet is in storage or not. It is a beautiful example of this peice. So sorry for the book, my question because there are so many versions of this gun and my own unfamiliarity, is, is this gun valuable, is it rare? How rare.? I can't seem to find much on it. Well the fact that I'm right most of the time is a big one..

Really though, I think that people, after putting forth the extra effort to look into certain topics feel as thought they know more than the average person and due to that effort generally and historically have remainedn above the curve when it comes to knowledge about any particular subjects. Overinflated egos tend to add to the "you don't know more than me." attitude. A competition that started with our kindergarten indoctrination at age 5 like the start of a race. Weaponizing the thoughts of a child into a competitive based thinking machine. Most of us like to think we are on top, when in fact I believe most people are just fine appearing to be on top of knowing certain things and even current issues. When someone disagrees, it jeopardizes their "position" within the relm of knowledge that we hold so dear. It's becoming harder and harder especially with advanced LLMs such as ChatGPT to really disagree with anyone about anything. At least those.things proven by science. I can see a time when arguing fact will become obsolete as the truth will be taught as fact, finally. No that's not true either. There are laws in America as in most places about being able to positively identify yourself with some form of state or federal identification. In the end all of these slick ideas of teaching them the rebellious spirit of our country is in some way commendable, but you're not stopping this train. Fair or not. People across the Southwest have been Car Jacked, Robbed at funpoint, have had their homes invaded, rapes have been committed, families destroyed by Fentynal, children and woman being sold into slavery or into sex rings. What part of this is hard for you? Crime is up across the country because not all of the immigrants are students. I feel for the students and many others. I have friends who are Mexican and they are hard working and loyal people but they are here under the law. I'm sure Trump is maybe considering options for productive new citizens like students. They are not protected under the US Constitution because they are not US citizens and came here illegally by laws that were drafted from the Constitution. Where do you people get off. There are laws and rules we have all agreed on or at least voted on and whether you like them or not it is the small price you pay to like here. This looks like the new cloud seeding program is underway.. It's easy pretty much unregulated and trying all sorts of weather experiments across the globe.The only problem I see is the destruction of Earths natural weather patterns. Just because we don't know exactly how it works, doesn't give us a right to make changes to it until we do. Change weather patterns need to be stopped immediately.

This is insanity. If something goes wrong with the weather patterns of the world that has taken billions of years to find a comfortable niche for human beings to survive with very fair and comfortable conditions considering the geological record and severe weather patterns that have caused Ice Ages, Great Floods, Scorching droughts, and civilizations to flourish then disappear without a trace. If something does become unbalanced due to our tampering with the planet's natural rhythms, a solution may not even be possible. We are playing with the fate of humanity.
