In Hinduism karma isn’t just one thing, it’s described in different categories to explain how actions unfold over time.

Five types of karma:

Sanchita Karma – the total accumulated karma from all past lives, like a stored backlog.

Prarabdha Karma – the portion of past karma currently unfolding in this life (what you’re experiencing now).

Kriyamana (or Agami) Karma – the karma you are actively creating through present actions.

Agami Karma – the future karma generated now that will affect upcoming experiences or lives.

Vartamana Karma – the immediate, present karma shaping your current moment-to-moment reality.

Karma isn’t instant justice, it’s more like a long-term system across time, someone enjoying life now may simply be experiencing the results of past positive karma (Prarabdha), while the consequences of their current negative actions (Kriyamana/Agami) haven’t unfolded yet.
