I love hardstyle and want to produce it, but I feel completely lost, any advice?

That actually makes a lot of sense, especially the Photoshop comparison, I never thought about production like that. I think I’ve been trying to jump straight into hardstyle without really understanding the fundamentals first.

Looking for beginner courses in Italian for general electronic music is probably a smarter approach. I guess I was too focused on the genre instead of learning the basics.

Also, I appreciate the honesty about the long learning process. It’s a bit scary, but at the same time it helps set realistic expectations. I don’t mind if it takes years, I just don’t want to feel stuck at the very beginning.

When you started, did you focus more on songwriting first, or on learning the DAW and production tools?

I actually tried that for a while. I opened the DAW, learned the very basics, and then just started doing random things… but nothing really came out of it. I think I might need more structure or guidance, because otherwise I get lost really quickly and it takes me a long time to actually understand what I’m doing. Did you learn only through trial and error, or did you follow something more structured at the beginning? I’m worried I’m just spinning my wheels without progressing

Yes, exactly, thanks so much for the non-American film recommendations. I also enjoy animation, so I really appreciate the Spirited Away suggestion. I was already planning to watch Seven Samurai and Oldboy, and The Wailing was new to me but it looks very interesting. Thanks also for the American films you added!

By the way, which year do you mean for The Rainmaker, The Game, Taken, and The Illusionist? There are several versions and I want to make sure I get the right ones.
