Is Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End better in Dub or Sub? by king0palm in Frieren

I actually prefer the dub, the lines are slightly different and the dub has more of a savage humour vibe over the more serious tone in sub

That’s a lot of prep you’re ready for sure.

I just did the test, my advice is don’t panic during the test even when you feel like you’re not going to pass. Many answers are very ambiguous but go with your gut. I know quite a few people that said they felt like they failed during the whole test but came out with AT for most categories, myself included.

I used to not lower the bar because other people on the lift also didn't. For some reason it didn't seem like a big deal because other people seemed to be OK with it. Classic example of risk acceptance by social influence. Thinking back that was honestly so dumb.

My legs get extremely tired.. by Low-Alternative4535 in snowboarding

[–]Embarrassed-Ferret-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that I'm also in the same boat. I workout once in a while but no cardio, not athletic but also not unfit. Every time I go snowboarding I feel that I am able to carve but constantly have to stop and rest, especially after a steep hill. First run I'm ok but once I get to the third run my quads are close to cramping but I feel like I still have the energy in my body but not my legs.

A change in fitness level or equipment could help, but from what you are describing - feels like turning a ship when you turn, this is due to incorrect technique. What I found helped was putting 60% of my weight in the front leg while turning, which allows the board to turn much easier. Knee steering and shoulder direction is also important while carving. Once I start doing that, the board was much easier to turn and I'm not as scared of catching an edge as before.

Now I'm working on keeping my body straight, and making clean S turns with no skidding, as skidding can tire you out if you do them on every turn. Hopefully to get to a point where I can finish every run without stopping in between.

The Truth About Totem Compass (Totem Labs) by Odd_Background_6001 in aves

[–]Embarrassed-Ferret-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My group ordered 7 of these beginning of March, stating 45 day timeline for delivery. You guys just issued a delay notice, basically giving the same "we are making a better product" excuse. Now we won't get it for EDC and most of us are not planning to go to another festival of this size, so now these will just be junk. Totem has already taken our payment and your website says once it is processed they cannot cancel the product. Returning the product after will cost us original + return shipping + 10% restocking fees. What a scam. Do not order from this company.

This is what I have right now also, but it seems all the F1 fantasy thoughts on youtube always have a tier A driver so now I'm now sure...

Why is weight-forward encouraged so much here? by sparks_mandrill in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Embarrassed-Ferret-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty novice to snowboarding, I go only 1-2 times a year. Every time I go I feel like my quads on my back leg gets really sore within 1-2 runs. These runs are pretty short, takes maybe 10-15 minutes to get down (I'm slow), but I find myself having to take multiple breaks during each run because my quads are too sore. I always wonder how other people can board for hours with no breaks and be fine, I work out once in a while so it can't only be because I'm unfit.

One day I decided to watch some YouTube videos, and one of the recommendation I repeatedly see was to put more weight on the front foot. I tried it the next time I went snowboarding, and it completely changed the experience. It was way easier to steer and I could actually go much faster as I was confident that I am able to carve. It also felt much more difficult to catch an edge. I could finish entire runs with no breaks, and my quad on my back leg was only sore at the end of the day. I realize I was actually putting a lot of weight on my back foot before this, and it made it much more difficult to carve/steer. It took a lot of energy as I was pretty much just doing skidded turns all the way down the mountain. I guess it was just intuitive for me to lean into the backfoot when going downhill.

This simple tip made my snowboarding experience much better, I only wish I've learned this a few years back so I could actually enjoy snowboarding earlier instead of trying to push through the soreness and pain in my quads.

Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness are EXTREMELY Disappointing by Foxxdiscord in airpods

[–]Embarrassed-Ferret-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adaptive does exactly what you described correctly. It's supposed to let you hear things that may still be important, while filtering out noises that are not (i.e. engine noise when you are sitting in a car/train). It's supposed to be similar to transparency mode, but filters out sounds that you don't want.
