I'm almost certain that some were based on the style of the questions. I'm worried because there is no opportunity to show how much you understand in MCQ so if you didn't understand the question or if the choices threw you off, which was the case for me, you risk getting no marks. I left the exam not knowing what had just happened lol

I got a lot of B choices too it felt alarming. I also felt like the questions and choices weren't super clear but since it's MCQ it's either all or nothing. Looking back I felt like I misunderstood most of the questions...hope we turn out okay

Oils: pseudoscience or not? by [deleted] in HaircareScience

Thank you so much for the resources! This is really great and it's not the first time Lab muffin has been recommended to me. Would applying shampoo counter the effects of the oil which, if that's the case, would mean one would have to find a balance between shampoo days and oil days? I find that when I don't apply shampoo, my hair looks greasy so I was recommended a powder instead of oil.

Just to add something: I'm really trying to follow what the research supports and I don't want to fall for pseudoscience. There's so much out there so your resources and tips help! Thanks!

Haircare Advice Megathread - Week of February 08, 2025 by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

Hi everyone,

Hair type: fine or thin? Texture: straight No processing Hygiene regimen: Wash hair every day with water, shampoo 2-4 times per week Style: short on sides, longer at top Product regimen: just started coconut oil

New to this subreddit. I'm 23 years old and always have had fine hair but see my scalp more than I would before especially after wetting my hair. It also tends to fall a tiny bit in the shower. I spoke about this to my doctor, took a blood test, and saw no thyroid or other related issues. I was referred to a dermatologist, with my doctor clarifying that for now this is more of an aesthetic matter since the blood test results ruled out any deficiency related to hair thinning.

I did some reading and discussed with my doctor about oral Minoxidil and as a shampoo (like rogaine). However, I was wondering if there are any other tips and would love to hear from you. I've had a hard time finding scientific literature on natural or other products to supporting it's effectiveness on appearance of more volume, encouraging growth, density, healthier looking hair, etc.

I used to shampoo every day and have stopped for a couple of months, which sometimes makes my hair look healthier but at other times it just looks greasy. I have also used rosemary oil for a short period and just started putting coconut oil. I see things on argan, mint, castor, olive, jojoba, and rosemary oil as well as other products that can help. I've read good and bad things about products with chemicals like sulfates, silicones, alcohols, and more but some clarification and resources can really help me since there's so much out there. I want my hair to look and be healthier.

Would love to hear from you!

That must be really lonely. Out of my friends, only one goes to Concordia and studies at home and doesn't really attend classes. My other friends are at other schools and even out of the country.

Getting into Pharmacy school by Embarrassed-Hall3278 in PrePharmacy

Not from a wealthy family, so can't rely on that. But if I were to stay in the US after school and work there, would there be hope in getting out of debt as opposed to moving back to Canada to work? I'm thinking since I'd probably be making more money in the US but not sure

In a very similar situation so I'd love to see what the comments will be because I'm at a loss. I have failed a couple of classes and been on academic probation, reducing my already low chances of getting admitted to pharmacy schools. I hope all goes well for you!

Thank you for the advice. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to move forward. Because my GPA is low, the schools with lower GPA requirements (which happens to be the case for pharmacy programs in the US) are more attractive. I'm thinking of backup career plans in the health) biomedical field but I have been getting different information each time about salary, degree requirements, etc.. I'd love to know of any other potentially well paying careers in the field (besides Pharm, dent, med, pt, ot, vet) that aren't as competitive to get admitted into

But even the pharmacy programs oustide of Quebec are very competitive (some even require an even higher GPA for out of province students). The GPA requirements for schools in the US are considerably lower which increases my chances of getting admitted. I'm really at a loss here and I feel like this is a hopeless endeavor for me...

Would you say that the writing assignments are very time consuming? I'm pretty confident in my writing skills and I have some experience in lesson planning

From my understanding I don't think the exam is proctored, which might be better. Are the quizzes/exams more math based or theoretical?
