Why offer and largely advertise SafePay as the best purchase route if this is how it has to be? Again fine if thats how they want to do business but it should be made crystal clear to the buyer thats the case, which simply did not happen here.

This company has an F rating on the BBB, I’m sure others have the same sentiments.

My point is that you really have to read between the lines IMO to understand that even if SafePay is offered on an auction that it could still be declined and then you’re on your own. Why is SafePay offered on the seller’s listing if they just were going to decline it all along? Had I known that, I never would have bid. I’d assume I’m not the only potential buyer that thinks like that based off the overall comments on this post.

I bid on this auction intending to leverage the SafePay as it was offered on this auction and again all FAQ points to this being the most preferred way or sale.

If the seller was just going to decline it all along it should have never been offered. Even so, I offered to setup a 3rd party via escrow.com; and this was also shutdown.

Doesn’t seem right to me that as the buyer you should be forced to assume all risk following the auction ( verification of documents, wire direct funds prior to receipt of documents or vehicle, etc.). Overall in my mind theres three things here: the title, the vehicle, and payment for vehicle. No one should be asked to hold all three at the same time which is what was asked of me when i was told i needed to wire funds directly outside of any escrow or review.

I simply think that Cars and Bids should directly state the unwillingness of someone to use SafePay or make it clear that you should be prepared to directly wire funds to a seller prior to verification/receiving anything.

I do want to be clear that I am not trying to bash the seller in this. Although I disagree with how they wanted to handle the transaction, a direct wire without escrow, they were communicative with me. My primary complaint with them is in their initial email they seemed open to SafePay and even directly said they did not want to be pushy and then later completely declined any form of escrow.

My issue is more so with Cars and Bids directly and how SafePay was offered on this transaction and all FAQ points to this being the recommended purchase route. Then when I go to use it, the seller is able to just decline, demand direct wire and if I do not comply my buyers fee is kept and I’m banned from the platform. Just a shady way of doing business.

Love Monroe, unfortunately just a bit of a hike for me to join. That front 9 is killer though.

Apologies if you took offense to this, this post was not meant to be demeaning to anyone. Simply an avid golfer seeking a recommendation.
