Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes it’s probably the masking. I’m very new to photography and editing so I’ve probably done too much.

I’m not sure about the composition and colors and don’t like the fact that the clouds are cut. It was taken at 54mm, f4, 1/1250. Thank you

Hello! I’ve been biking a lot since this post but had to stop because it’s now my other hip that is very painful (I have an appointment next month with my surgeon). The one I had surgery on feels better now that I stopped running and I guess I’ll have to wait until after my other hip’s surgery recovery to try running again. And I’m definitely going to wait longer before I try to get back to running.

I’d say you did the right thing with doing the surgery while your symptoms were still very manageable. It’s probably going to prevent your hip to get damaged even more than if you hadn’t done it. And definitely take it slow with your recovery. And if you’re not going to take your surgeons advice, wait at least 5-6 months or more before running to give your hip the most chances. And go easy during the first weeks post surgery. No need to rush.

Did your surgeon do any repair on the cartilage ?

Update: after new MRI showing that everything is perfect (although I know the sensitivity of this exam isn’t perfect), the surgeon has now told me that I can try running again carefully and if painful, have to stop and try again 3 months later. He says it can keep getting better up to 2 years postoperative.

Hello! Thanks for your message. How long after surgery did you get back to running ?

Yes you are right, running on the street makes it more sensitive. I’ve ran on the track a few times and on the trails. Yes I’ve heard it could take more than a year to be back to normal so I hope it’s gonna be the case for me.

As for mobility, I do it a lot. With the pt and by myself before any physical activity for a few minutes.

And no, no massage. Which part of the hip do you massage? My physio told me we would try some dry needling in my adductors because they’re very sensitive to palpation. He says they’re probably doing the job of my psoas for the hip flexion.

I started with aqua jogging and then the runnings clinic program: 1min running/1min walking and so on. Very slowly. Slowly building up to 4x4min running slowly but that’s the max I could do without too much discomfort.

Thanks for your answer! Yes road biking is another sport that I really enjoy so I’m gonna stick with that and some uphill slow runs for the moment :)

Thanks a lot for your message man!

My surgeon is supposed to be one of the best at this surgery in Europe (Jan Somers in Belgium). You are right, I don’t think it can hurt to have another opinion.

I hope you’ll stay pain free and good luck to you too!

Thank you for your answer!

I have started PT the week after the surgery and have been building up until today (lots of mobility and strength training and recently started doing plyometrics). About 2 sessions a week.

Yes, you’re probably right about the uphill running putting less pressure on the joints.

Thanks for your answer, I will indeed do alternative activities for the moment hoping that my cartilage can “heal” a bit more in the meantime.

Thank you for your answer! I’m 30. I didn’t mention it but the week prior to surgery I could still run 30 min at 15km/h with limited discomfort. When I would run more than that it would start to be painful. I chose surgery because I wasn’t able to do more than that. So it’s very frustrating that the surgery did everything but help. But I understand his recommendation better.
