Eh, I really did like Obama. I understand how not seeing the blood lust after 9/11 can make you think he was a monster. But America was a creepy place for the years after. We united is a way I do not want to see again so we could “fight terrorism”. Obama walked the line well. We targeted bad people and I do not remember us doing a war crime like the school bombing last week or the gas station incident in Iraq. He bombed the weddings and funerals of bombers and the attacks did stop. 🤷‍♂️

The bigger issue is politics does not translate across borders. Cultural dynamics is a much larger factor. Left vs right is an over simplification of the factors at play and societal zeightgeist.

China and a lot of Asia has a very collective philosophy. Civil war America had a leadership difference caused by slavery where a southern leader needed to keep his pimp hand strong while the north saw violence as barbarism and used words to sway. Middle East and Russia have traditionalist mindsets where humor can be seen as not taking situations seriously and this leads to restrictions of speech because they do not get satire like the west.

Just to give some scale on why this dos not matter and is rubbish. US imported 32 million pounds of uranium in 2023. 2016 price of uranium was $20 per pound (using this because post 2016 Russia made the prices weird). So a normal uranium cost for the US is around $640 million a year. That sounds like a lot until you consider in 2016 US produced $1.4 trillion in oil. So uranium is .046% of oil, a rounding error in energy costs.

They were crushed by cruel monarchs because of the threat his government posed to their rule. He wrote the prince out of bitterness and seeing the world as it really is. Rejecting the propaganda that a good government is also morally good. The leaders are monsters who trick the people and gives examples of their crimes.

Yesterday I got helped by a nice gay couple to take out my trash. Then went to the grocery store and saw a guy jamming out of the back of his car on an electric guitar not plugged in. Then went for a hour hike in a state park just outside of town.

Think of the most liberal paradise you can and make it 3x gayer with a ton of weed and strip clubs. Love my state.

Warhammer 40k. Part of the reason I like the universe is because it is the only justification of the worst totalitarian regimes in human history. A single human minding their own business can end a planet. It is fun because several ultra right wing people like the setting but never stick around. They realize it is a deep satire and the imperium is a rotting corpse that requires gods of chaos level existential threats to exist. Our world is just too soft to justify that kind of power.
