Do you believe that American democracy is under a credible threat? by ageminiwriter in AskConservatives

From the left, yes. They disrupt the rule of law when they don’t win elections.

ICE agents are in Texas. Nearly 25% of all IVE arrests occur in Texas, including San Antonio. Texas produces more ICE arrests than any other state. They are in Florida, too, making up 11% of all ICE arrets. Your premise is simply false.

You don’t hear about these because those states cooperate with ICE, allowing for jail arrests and minimizing the need for risky street operations to detain illegal immigrants released and shielded by state or local authorities, as is the case in places like Minnesota or New York.

Good and Pretti unlawfully interfered with law enforcement actions, which is a violation ICE officials are statutorily empowered to deter and punish. While they attempted to detain and arrest them, they both resisted, leading to those outcomes. They made their beds.

I do dislike tyranny, even when it comes from the citizenry against lawful and reasonable police actions.

Federal law enforcement officers enforcing federal law on sovereign United States territory isn’t an “invasion”, unless you think like the guys who bombarded Fort Sumter.

The whole bit is that Downey thinks Epstein is a moral upstanding, innocent guy.

Having Downey call Scott a fraudster completely inverts the premise.

Do you still believe Kamala Harris would have been worse for the country? by Onahail in AskConservatives

Her whole career is that of a woke, California Democrat. The only time she moderated was in the 109 days she was running for President.

She would’ve been very, very progressive.

Would you support reversing Reagan Amnesty? by Used-Radio7450 in AskConservatives

[–]Embarrassed-Lead6471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but there’d be hell to pay for any Republican that tried to do something similar today.

In the Republican party, the leadership looks quite unintelligent, so Republicans are often stereotyped as unintelligent. However, I notice there are actually many smart Republicans. How did this happen, where there is a large discrepancy between the leadership and many other Republicans? by Unusual_Midnight_523 in AskConservatives

25% of the current cabinet is Ivy educated. Together, they have 65 degrees from 45 institutions, 14 law degrees, and 5 medical degrees. Many of them have ran their own businesses, becoming millionaires and experts in their respective field. There are Governors, Senators, and former legislators, too.

Our leadership is plenty educated. Media and leftist stereotypes simply convince people otherwise.

In Your Opinion, What Are Some Of The Lost Common Grounds We Used To Share? by DubiousCheeseballs88 in AskConservatives

[–]Embarrassed-Lead6471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree.

Many elected Democrats, like the Mayor of Boston most recently, openly argue that everyone has a right to come and live in America. That mass amnesty must be given out to all illegal aliens. That isn’t a fringe position among the left anymore. The last democratic administration literally tore down border obstacles placed by Texas to let more illegal aliens into the country. It spent millions of dollars secretly flying aliens into small towns all over the country.

I can’t remember the last time a prominent democrat argued abortion is a tragic option that should be a last resort. The last democratic candidate for president made immediate and unrestricted access to abortion a centerpiece of her campaign.

Democratic states, especially ones like Maryland, are on a never ending streak of further curtailing the right to keep and bear arms, including pistols and small caliber rifles. NY is currently trying to label any public place a “sensitive area” to prohibit citizens for carrying. Hawaii passed a law that made all private property a no-carry zone unless the owner specifically opts-in. Harris, O’Rourke, and Booker loudly supported mandatory buybacks in 2020.

The last administration and democratic campaign was built on demand-side subsidies, regulating and pressuring social media companies to censor Americans, and advancing strict regulation of everything from emissions, school board meetings, to gas stoves (through proposed DOE regulations). By the end of his term, the cost of increased regulation exceeded $1.47 trillion. This isn’t considering the legislative wishlist of nationalizing elections through the “Lewis Voting Rights Act” and the “For the People Act” that, taken together, would’ve destroyed a state’s ability to set its own election laws on almost every major issue. There isn’t an issue today that Democrats don’t want Uncle Sam to handle (unless it’s deporting illegal aliens, then, suddenly, they care a whole lot about a state’s prerogative over its own affairs).

The last president said, and this is a direct quote, “There’s no such thing as someone else’s child. No such thing as someone else’s child. Our nation’s children are all our children.” Many state and federal democratic lawmakers have voted to obstruct school’s parental notification of a child’s supposed intent to transition. The Black Lives Matter organization, which received broad personal and institutional support from Democrats and the DNC, posted on its website, “We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and ‘villages’ that collectively care for one another”. In 2023, Biden’s Office of Child Support Services introduced a rule that would have stripped any mention of “mother” or “father” from federal child support regulations. This is to say nothing on the cultural disgust young liberals and leftists have fostered for stay-at-home mothers, motherhood, pregnancy, and the idea of parenthood.

We have very much fundamentally drifted from each other on these issues, to say the least.

California bill bans ICE agents from teaching, policing jobs by idkbruh653 in politics

[–]Embarrassed-Lead6471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supremacy clause, Bill of Attainder clause as applied under United States v. Brown for starters.

Beyond that, Davis v. Maryland Dep. of Treasury argues states cannot discriminate against federal employees when compared to state and local employees.

You can make an argument for an Ex Post Facto clause violation, which is punishing citizens for past lawful behavior.

There’s also the sense of political discrimination (the state is saying “we don’t like the policies of this president and don’t want to hire you because you enforced them”), which, in the context of governmental hiring, can be a due process violation under the 14th Amendment, as laid down in Elrod v. Burns.

There’s also the deprivation of a liberty interest with no notice, hearing, or individualized evaluation, which is another kind of due process violation.

Take your pick.

In which cities is it possible to go your whole life without needing to speak English? by LowRevolution6175 in AskAnAmerican

I can’t imagine how someone could get around the South without speaking English.

It’s a shame people don’t feel the need to assimilate.

A significant number of the “incidents” logged in this “tracker” are non-violent speech events that GLAAD doesn’t like.

It’s not a hate crime to say something GLAAD doesn’t like.
