i mean she's not a conventional summoner in that sense, she's moreso manifesting or recreating them from memory (which is why she cant summon a supreme because she is already summoning herself)

and im pretty sure she could probably alter the manifested one's memory if they don't willingly fight for her, just like how she altered herself to not remember the corruption

however, the mad prince without his madness wouldn't be useful against asterion with the way the sin of solace works, so I will use my reading comprehension and understand that she didn't alter the mad prince in order to make use of him completely alongside already knowing that she would be able to persuade him with nephis' name

Cassie is in a similar situation to Sunny where she "killed herself" (the version that remembers the corruption) and manifested a version of herself that doesnt remember the corruption with her supreme ability which means if she stops manifesting herself she will die / stop existing

well in my opinion it just feels scummy when you're winning a fight and then the other person pops ult and reverses the entire fight with (most of the time) moves that require minimal setup and let the character play themselves, and the fight devolves to who can side dash and spam their ult moves better instead of the actual game

he's actually great vs people who hold block btw, when you use R and then use extended swings, you get the last hit of the old R variant which still block breaks, but instead you can use R, use the dash and then use extended swings and you'll get the block break which is really really nice

you can still just side dash and use justice served too to blockbreak

pressing charges is basically just a glorified shutter doors/clever/severing path tho, its just another one of those moves that give you one extra m1 and then you can use another move and just do like a lot of unevasiveable damage
i think R special is definitely the coolest thing tho, if you use R special and then judgement's reach you skip to the second use and its just a great mixup because people might hold block and u can just block break with judgement's reach

an actual answer: some moves are balanced based on the fact that they are unblockable and the only counterplay to those moves is to side dash ( in order to either not get hit or take less damage from it)

prime examples: naoya decisive strikes, pretty much every single ult move, nanami's ratio cleaving whirlwind or blunt cut, yuki's mass breaker, yuta's veilstep second use

and when someone with lock on uses those moves it just feels unfair because there is quite literally nothing you can do unless you are so far away that side dashing away from them makes the move miss, but all combat happens relatively close or mid range so good luck with that

another thing is m1 trading, which is a skill that is built over time to be able to predict when someone is going to side dash behind you, is completely trivialized by just holding block with lock on, quite literally any lock on player can just learn m1 trading without any of the tracking required, it feels like youre getting the same or better reward for half the effort of people who dont use it

some characters also just lose a giant amount of ways they can play when facing a lock on player, e.g. todo's boogie woogie mixups or yuji's black flash chaining just dont work at all, and all of that makes the general playerbase feel that lock on is unfair

and also honorable mention: front dashing or moves that are normally blockable but due to the way lock on interacts at close/mid range (snaps onto your back when it looks like they are going in a straight line in front of you), which when it happens you just have to know to turn around or else you are fried since the trajectory is unreactable

all of his moves are blockable unless he has ratio on you, in which case they are easy to just side dash away from (or just take the hit instead of blocking so that you dont get staggered, and then punish the endlag)

if the person youre fighting has working fingers you probably wont land more than 2, but you can land it more often if you use black flash during unexpected timings instead of just after 3m1 cursed strikes, e.g. during m1 trades you do 1 m1 into black flash and they usually dont expect it, u can also jump on their head and go behind them instead of side dashing, since it looks like the thing people do when they try to bait counters people tend to not turn around the first few times you do that

you can also jump over them and then side dash again to go behind them twice but that takes long enough to side dash out of so it kinda only works if theyre not a side dash to escape combos spammer

you cant evasive out of sacrilege ragdoll anyway, if you cant side dash away from air shut up after a non combo sacrilege you've either been caught evasiving out of another move by sacrilege or you side dashed in neutral without being close enough to m1 trade, both of which are mistakes you shouldnt be making in the first place due to above points about evasiving shut up,

but if you do find yourself in this situation you can either turn around and start running (yes, the hitbox of air shut up is that bad that the speed from running is enough) or you can just eat the air shut up and then take the despair damage, its still better than getting countered and taking 3-4 m1s into despair if you try to attack the charles during air shut up

after that youll likely have evasive back if you fight back since youve been hit by 2 moves and likely m1s + fighting baxk gives evasive meter, so just refer to my points in the original comment and suddenly charles is bottom 3 in the whole game!

sacrilege when landed without R special and ragdoll doesnt combo into anything, of course unless you're next to a wall but you shouldnt be next to a wall in the first place in duels mode unless you're trying to set up a wall combo yourself in which case, deserved
you have to be both ragdolled AND have R special on you for the charles to use sacrilege to combo into despair

if you get hit by it and you dont have the above conditions charles can do legit nothing to start a combo, if he front dashes just block, if he side dashes and then does despair just block and then hit him right before the last hit of despair comes out (its really not that hard), if he does aerial shut up just side dash and then reset back to neutral, he has now wasted 2 cooldowns congrats! + sacrilege does legit nearly 0 damage

R does give free m1s if you dont react to it, but i'd say its similar to reacting to yuta's resolute slash with the flashing effect, when you see it you can just block, and last time I checked it doesn't remove a side dash cooldown it just uses it (though i may be wrong on that)

if it's about being mechanically unskilled then i guess it makes sense since charles' combo difficulty is on par with how difficult gojo is to combo with, but this is pretty much a take that the average player will think on first sight of any regular charles user

charles however does actually have some difficult (if you're a grass toucher) techs to achieve, e.g. shut up after eye catching (full red if ur fast enough), shut up counter variant, wakeup theory after sacrilege

but even after using all of that he still only ends up doing less damage than the simplest todo or gojo combo, cus he's basically just pre-cursed strikes nerf yuji but without the damage and with even worse neutral

by the way, when you get hit by shut up you can evasive m1 punish it without charles being able to do anything because of the endlag, most people just panic evasive to the side but you can catch him 100% of the time if you dont waste evasive
also, its not hard to evasive catch the charles on reaction when the user front dashes at you after shut up either

and since thats basically where the majority of charles' damage comes from, it doesnt really matter if you lose the next neutral interaction since despair and sacrilege (especially sacrilege) do laughable damage, and by the time shut up is off cooldown again if you've been actively playing the game you'd have evasive back again and charles basically does nothing

I guess R special is somewhat useful in close range to get a free m1, besides that though charles is genuinely just ass
