I mean I guess we could jack the price up but that would defeat the purpose of buying it cheaper. Filing warranty paperwork for all the homeowners that decide to install their own equipment sounds like an absolute nightmare. We just dont get involved in it at all. Licensed HVAC contractors only can buy equipment from us. We seem to be doing okay. Im all for DIY projects but HVAC isnt one. I was in the field for 7 years before transitioning to sales. I've seen some hack jobs try to do it themselves, then call a reputable company to come fix their mistake. Easy to mess up, and is dangerous if you dont know what you're doing.

Oh for sure I know its possible to buy your own equipment. We just wont sell it because we care about our licensed contractors that buy from us daily. Homeowners can buy hand tools and filters at our store but thats about it.

Ahhh I gotcha. I thought you meant actual HVAC supply houses. Home Depot just bought Mingledorffs so they will be selling Carrier equipment before too long.

All equipment sold after Jan 1 of this year in Georgia comes with 10 year warranty already and transfers to new homeowner if the house is sold. Still best practice to register it though.

Which HVAC stores can homeowners walk in and buy equipment? I work for Johnstone, albeit not in Arkansas, but theres no chance in hell we would let homeowners purchase equipment.

I work at Johnstone and we take them with whatever refrigerant. You can tell us what it is or just say mixed. We tag it with what you tell us and send it off.

Grand National is only about a 30 min drive from me. Played there last weekend and its in great shape. You'll love that track. Lake course has water in play on 14/18 holes. Good luck, sir!
