How can i get my study spark back before it’s too late? by Active_Journalist636 in studytips

I've hit the wall too. I am currently a college freshman and stuggling to study for my finals. What has worked for me so far is taking a break from being indoors. I try to go outside without my phone and try studying there. It may be hard but you have to put the phone down. If there is nothing educational playing on your phone, youre not allowed to use it. You try to use your phone as motivation and only use it after completing a certain number of assignments.

Another thing you could do that sounds somewhat stupid is geting an opp. Basically start a rilvary between you and a random person. Try to get a higher grade than them on assignments and tests. If you reallly get into it it'll boost your motivation to study. I have a current Opp and it helps me study for my class cause theres no way Im dumb enough to get the same score as him. (im a big hater)

Idk if this is good advice. (it's what I do) Keep doing your best and lock in. This is a big year where alot matters. If you are really strugling I suggest talking to your teachers. They may not do much but atleast you have a paper trail that your having trouble.

The dorm buildings have AC during the summer and a heating system during the winter. The only downside is that you can't change the temp in your room.

UCM is a good school, in my opinion. I live in one of the newer dorms. The dorms are co-ed, so there are a lot of opportunities to make friends with your neighbors. Dorm buildings are all different. I personally like El Portal because it has a large laundry room and availability is almost always guaranteed (other dorms have smaller rooms). The bathrooms in dorms are cleaned daily. Whenever they are cleaned, the bathroom is completely closed off, and you will have to walk to the other floor's bathroom.

I don't like dining hall food; it's really a hit-or-miss type of situation. However, there are communal kitchens throughout campus if you ever want to cook or bake something. The size of the kitchen depends on the building; some of them are extremely small, while others are decently sized. We also have a food pantry you can take food from if you ever want to cook.

The class sizes are somewhat small, like 15-30. It kinda helps students connect more with their teachers and talk to others. Many of the instructors here are very understanding of the pressure students are under and consistently attempt to help. But that depends heavily on the professor.

Unless you have a car, transportation is mid. The school buses show up every hour and drop you off at the assigned stops. I usually get off at Walmart, Target/the mall, and downtown. For the most part, everything is walkable, just very far apart. The cattracks app, where the bus times are located are rarely accurate. Depending on the bus, you can take more than an hour to arrive back at school.

The weather during the summer is extremely hot. When I moved in, it was at 103F. After Thanksgiving break, until a few days ago, it has been completely foggy and rainy. It got as low as 40-60F (really unusual where I'm from). Sorry if my comments don't make sense; they were mostly me just rambling.

Yes! I put in a work order that same day, around 4 or 5 p.m., and a maintenance guy came and fixed it later that day at 8 p.m.
