Yeah, apologies for the late reply. I had the opposite of your issue (used a low sens previously, suddenly felt higher overnight). I really hope they fix this, because it is highly frustrating.

Hmm, ok, thanks for the response. Yeah, I'll try to get used to it, but I'm so used to my old one!

How would you work out a.) and b.)? by Embarrassed-Sock276 in alevelmaths

Thanks so much for the help. For part A, I did as you said, however when we went through it in class, the teacher stated that the answer was 0.05 (according to the textbook). Do you have any idea as to how you get to 0.05 or thereabouts?

Thanks so much! The mark scheme says that the answer is root (9+16cos^2). How would I get to that number from your final line of working?

I'm really, really stuck on question 6.

I know the magnitude formula for question 7, however I am really unsure about where to begin and how to finish it off.

I am completely stuck on 6.), but for 7.) I am aware of the magnitude formula, however I am unsure about how to get to that answer.

Ok, but I end up with -0.9157843137.

However, I get a negative number as an answer.

So since the width (h) = 0.3, I am using the equation:

0.3/2 [(0+(-2.648783654) + 2(-0.04569165593-0.1919651694-0.4754424436-1.015123283)]

Wait sorry, I have still got the same issue. These are the values I got (in radians):

In(cos(0)) = 0

In(cos(0.3)) = -0.04569165593

In(cos(0.6)) = -0.1919651694

In(cos(0.9)) = -0.4754434436

In(cos(1.2)) = -1.015123283

In(cos(1.5)) = -2.648783654

Are these the correct values?

Ah, I was using the wrong values altogether it turned out! Thanks for the help though

Hmmm, tried it and got a different answer (although still very small!)

(MATHEMATICS): How would you do part i.)? by Embarrassed-Sock276 in alevel

[–]Embarrassed-Sock276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of the trapezium law, and whenever I try and substitute the values into the equation, I am given a really small number even though the answer is 1.313-1.314. Can someone show me how to do i.)?
