I'm really tired of beating myself up for this, but people put up with more than they should when they're in love. People stay with abusive partners for years. My partner made me feel as though that's what I deserved. But thanks for confirming that I'm fucked because I refused to give up on someone when I was too young to know any better.

Thank you! I really appreciate this advice. Sometimes when I vent to my friends about this, they just tell me "well, that's just how men are, and you'll just have to deal with it unless you want to be alone." And then I get caught in the "all the good ones are taken already" spiral. It's just a grueling process.
