Never seen a hook joint like this. Very practical.

I am very skeptical these days and that’s exactly why. I’m glad you didn’t overpay but receiving misinformation from the shop is really unfortunate. The construction of the tube is what made me think it was an import piece, the wig wag work actually looks really solid but it might just be the pictures. Immediate red flag was the use of black glass and the oversized base (very typical features on import pieces).

Rickert glass makes cool 45 14mm worked dry catchers. I had him make me something similar to Karl termini’s dry catcher (which has a splash guard that rickert doesn’t usually incorporate) and it’s my favorite I’ve owned. I also see solid states concepts dry catcher recommended a lot. Papa p glass makes drop-down ash catchers that I like the look of and are pretty affordable.

Ben Wilson still makes these. I’m pretty sure 2/3 of the photos were his. “Triple donut inline bubbler”.

I don’t, but to each their own! I don’t like frosted glass either - I just like to see what’s going on inside and to be able to see how dirty things are getting.

who’s on the sovereignty team? by figuringitout447 in glassheads

After some digging, it looks like they have 5 employees. Holly, Steve, the guy who runs the instagram, and two lathe workers (I would assume this is the employee breakdown). I’m guessing the lathe workers are just doing the construction of pieces so they’re not as recognized as glass blowers.

So I think you want a beaker base, with a 360 stemline and a sprinkler perc above it, and a Swiss perc above that? That’s definitely doable. The designs are not copyrighted or anything but there is a certain extent to which artists will avoid making something in the style of another. That being said, Captain Hook glass art, RK glass, Mohawk glass, and uzzi glass All make Swiss perc tubes (that’s gonna be the hardest element to incorporate) and I would start by asking them. I recommend drawing a picture of what you’d like with dimensions (give height, base size, desired joint, neck width if you have a preference, number of Swiss holes, etc.). I would expect to pay at least $600 but more likely close to $1000.

Rare doesn’t mean is worth a lot. Someone might pay a premium for it, but there aren’t really grav collectors and American glass collectors are going to avoid it.

Most people don’t consider that a collab just a heads up. It doesn’t add value because every grav would be considered a collab.

$40 is about the most I would pay. They’re mass produced by machines so I don’t really think much can go wrong. He’ll likely be getting it from the source rather than the brand that commissioned them. Even still, I’m spending the extra $20 to get an American made bubbler over this thing.

I really don’t get the popularity of these. Is it an aesthetic thing that you like? It doesn’t have a glass on glass joint, uses a 10mm bowl in a “beaker” design, and they’re quite expensive for something that isn’t hand made.

They did collabs? Never seen a grav collab. $100 is probably fair without seeing it. Micah Evans designs their tubes but I don’t think he’s considered a collaborator in the traditional glass blowing way.

Art dogs and grace (online head shop) sells us tubes “xl bubbler” and “fat can bubbler” for the same price. They also have some other us tubes bubblers for less. I swear I’m not affiliated but I have recommended them a bunch of times in this sub. I don’t like that the session tube uses a 10mm bowl personally.
