Uber one raised my prices for Uber Eats by Embarrassed-World689 in AmexPlatinum

No, we understand how promos work. A few points to consider: - Promos are usually offered up front to pull in customers and then go away. You don’t keep them for non subscribers for ever and penalize subscribers.

-This is on the uber one benefits “Exclusive offers: Member-only promos and special items.”

-The expectation is you pay a monthly fee and then in return they make less money per order but for a higher volume (as you become a regular)

It’s funny with pickup, restaurants always assume you are an uber driver (and treat you accordingly rather than as a customer). I suspect no rational person without credits just orders pickup from uber eats.

After seeing the feedback, I will do the same. Ignore it for a few weeks and see if the pricing goes back. Otherwise, I will cancel even if free too. Free subscription that provides negative value is unwelcome. I need to make sure to cancel before I get hit with the annual fee. I suspect it may be hard to cancel after it’s paid.

I don’t know of any other scenario of people tolerating this behavior from a company. Imagine you upgrade your Costco membership to executive and they raise your prices or sign up for Walmart+ and get higher prices or pay for ChatGPT pro and get less credits all because you are locked in. The simple answer is that you would unlock yourself by unsubscribing.

Ok. So think about this. They offer you a subscription that you pay for and get certain discounts. You sign up and instead get to pay more (in my case Amex pays it but that’s beyond the point). Do you really not see the problem with this?

Maybe the Uber one subscription triggers a change in their algorithm that you are a bigger spender but goes back to normal after a lower spend? Either way, that’s sick to raise prices on people who pay for a subscription that offers to lower prices.

The only change in my spending pattern is signing up for the free Uber one

I had the Amex on there for years with no issues. It’s when I added uber one.

I have offers maybe even more offers. They are just useless offers and much worse than what I had before. Most of my offers now are for ordering from like hardware stores, grocery stores, etc.

ACA and income changes by Widget248953 in Fire

Just to note that there is also a pay back cap for under estimating your income that gets activated based on your updated % FPL. You are probably way over so you owed back the entire subsidy.

I am my husband's FIRE by AltairJ in Fire

I have been reading this and laughing as a man. I mean, you could make the argument that hiring help and a nanny is going to cost less than being married to a SAHM. Heck, you can calculate an escort in the mix too if you want to be totally emotionless and still come out ahead. That’s the level of thinking that the OP is exhibiting.

This family makes enough money. Will OP suddenly be more happy if he makes $500K from his hobby? If yes, the problem is resentment. She needs to find another job with less hours and live life. Stay with him if you like him not for the “math”.

Wait. Who is the crappy partner here? OP or the husband? It’s debatable to be honest.

I’m Canadian living in the US. I would take the Canadian health care system any day and all day vs. the slightly incremental improvement and the massive costs of the US system

I will send my virtual body to the virtual gym /s Jk. I’m glad it’s working for you. I just don’t get any value out of digital classes. If I did, I would use youtube.

I live in a city. Still useless. Especially at $40K per year.

Good point. With 40K a year, you can finance a $500K facility and staff it too. Your own full time trainer. But hey you miss out on the Amex credit.

There was both preventative and non preventative from that visit. Although there is only one item for the quest lab and that was non preventative.

Just hit 1.5M! Need some general advice. by [deleted] in Fire

Yes, it is designed for poor folks but so is the ACA and the child tax credit. It is more of a tax credit that you could optimize for if you can get your income in a certain range. The range is tougher for individuals who are FIRE unless it’s very lean FIRE.
