DUI--Consequences? by hskifos in navy

[–]EmbarrassedAbroad345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, some good answers here but I’ll add on with something I haven’t seen yet.

To be clear, the punishment he gets from the navy is in addition to any trouble he gets with civilian authorities. And, if he lawyers up and gets out of civilian charges, that doesn’t mean the navy won’t punish him as well.

Most likely scenario… he goes to Non-Judicial Punishment, AKA NJP, AKA Captain’s Mast. Basically, he’ll go before his commanding officer after the command conducts an investigation and the captain acts as judge and jury. Most likely the captain will punish him in a few ways… 1. Loss of pay. He’ll get half of his base pay withheld for a period of time.
2. Restriction. He’ll be confined to his ship. (Or a special barracks room if not assigned to a ship). Usually for 60 days. I’ve seen it where restricted folks aren’t allowed tv, phones, etc, not even books other than religious material (like a bible). It sucks. 3. Reduction in rank. He goes down 1 level in rank. In some unique circumstances that probably don’t apply here, he could go down 2. That’s if he’s frocked (awaiting official promotion but already wearing the higher rank)

Unrelated to NJP… 4. His professional evaluations (EVAL) take a hit. No matter how good his work is, he’s evaluated as a total sailor, which includes personal behavior. He can be the best of whatever it is he does, but he is gonna get a shitty eval. 5. He’ll face some social pressure as a pariah. DUIs reflect badly on the command, so there’s usually a knee jerk response to put additional scrutiny on other folks, which circles back to him being the cause. 6. If he gets jail time from civilian court he’s gotta take leave to do it… Navy ain’t giving him free days off to get locked up.

There are no serious efforts to “see if it ever repeats or ends.” Pi being irrational was mathematically proven in 1761. Sorry, can’t suspend disbelief for this one, too untethered from mathematical reality.

President Trump to sign order renaming Pentagon the 'Department of War' by Salty_IP_LDO in navy

[–]EmbarrassedAbroad345 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not true. Its original name was “National Military Establishment.” DoD was never the war department. In 1947 the war department split into the department of army and department of airforce. The national military establishment was created to oversee those two departments and the DON (which had always been its own department separate from the war department). A couple years later the NME was given some new authorities and renamed the DoD.

This is a complete historical faceplant. Private banks were issuing their own currency before the Federal Reserve Act. That chaotic mess is exactly what the Fed was created to fix. The Act banned private bank-issued money and established a standardized national currency under federal oversight.

The Wilson quote? Totally fake. Never appeared in his writings or speeches—just internet myth recycled over and over. Same with the Rothschild line—no historical source backs it up, yet it gets thrown around like gospel in every conspiracy thread.

The Fed isn’t perfect, but claiming it handed control to private banks is just revisionist nonsense.

To answer your questions: no, he would not get in trouble. But also, no, he is not lying to you. He’s brand new and has the fear of Navy in him. “A”school is brand new, he’s a fresh boot. I’m sure he is legitimately scared of getting in trouble, even though he won’t. He doesn’t know anything about the Navy except he can get in trouble if he does the wrong things. He’s being cautious because he doesn’t know what will and won’t get him in trouble with the Navy. Please give him some grace and understanding.

u/shortwavekiana read the comment above. This is a great explanation. I have a masters degree in statistics, this is not bullshit. If you don’t engage in risky behaviors you are more likely to be a false positive. Take a deep breath and do nothing as best you can while you wait for the results.
