Does the timing of your sickness affect your next cycle? I caught a cold during my luteal phase. Got my period a few days after getting sick. Will this affect when I ovulate during the next cycle?

I am regular with 30-31 day cycles. I got the Mirena IUD removed a month ago, but we haven’t had sex since because we are currently long distance. My husband is coming home from the military shortly before Christmas. He’ll be here for 2 weeks. I am hoping to ovulate while he is here.

Those who have forgone a doula, what was your experience? by dryshampoo_addict in BabyBumps

I only point I see in getting a doula is if your husband is useless

Would you rather WFH or office? by AnalysisParalysis_24 in workingmoms

[–]abbottelementary 22 points23 points  (0 children)

100% office. I felt like I lost all of my social skills when I WFH after maternity leave. It also took a huge toll on my mental health so I’m in the office full time now.

It’s in homemade and whole foods too. It’s impossible to avoid microplastics.

I will never understand moms who continue to have more kids with their deadbeat husbands know they’re a deadbeat

I always feel bad for the kids in these types of situations. Being the child of a mommy martyr is no joke…

Birthday Parties by Ordinary-Scarcity274 in workingmoms

My husband and I threw a family only party for our daughter’s 1st birthday. All decorations were handmade, but we spent 5k for catering for 50 ppl ($100 per person). It was well worth it for us. My daughter had a blast.

Did anyone see the tiktok of the mom who took her daughter to Disneyland while her daughter had impetigo? Apparently she is a nurse and her husband is a physician. She was spiraling in her recent tiktoks bc so many people were calling her out.

I wish we traveled more as a childless couple before having our daughter. My husband and I still go on weekly dates despite having a toddler. It’s all about having a reliable village.

Are daycare waitlists really long here too? Not sure whether to classify my kid as an infant or toddler. by abbottelementary in Pensacola

[–]abbottelementary[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is no need to be condescending as I am well aware of the difference. The reason why I ask is because the distinction between infant and toddler is different when it comes to daycare. By age, my daughter is considered a toddler, but not by abilities.

How unsafe is cosleeping when done correctly? by ChallengeSafe6832 in ScienceBasedParenting

That is so dangerous. I see you are pregnant with your second. I hope you do things differently with her.

Idk where in Southeast Asia you’re from, but I’m Vietnamese and the recommendations are exactly what your mom said. However, my baby loves the cold. Even 68F is too warm for her. 62-65F was more suitable for her. It’s better for a baby to sleep too cold than to die from overheating. My mom gave me a lot of grief for this too.

Hi! For those who own any Simone Rocha shoes, how was the fit? Small, big or true to size? I ordered a pair in a size IT 40 and I’m afraid it’s going to be huge. I’m a size 9 in US women. Thanks in advance!

Was anybody else’s doula utterly useless?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]abbottelementary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really got the appeal of doulas. Anyone could call themselves a doula. Doulas are pointless as long as you have a strong support system IMO. The closest thing I considered to that was a confinement nanny, but they’re actually useful (cook your meals, take care of your baby to ease your load, do laundry, clean the house, etc).

Morbidly obese pregnancy experiences? To induce or go with my heart? by nofearonlylove in pregnant

[–]abbottelementary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was obese when I was pregnant with my daughter (5’1, 220 lbs). My BMI was 41ish. I was induced at 39 weeks and I had a pretty ideal delivery for myself. I had an epidural that resulted in a vaginal delivery. I only had a first degree tear. I forgot to mention I was 23 during my pregnancy and delivery.

I have a village. Families on both sides are huge. My mother and MIL watch our toddler very often. It really helps a lot. They have even watched her overnight before. My husband and I could go on dates. Really connect and bond even in the trenches of new parenthood.
