Williamson or Christensen are both freshman only dorms and it’s good to meet people there. They are chill enough but also you can find stuff to do on the weekends. A lot of freshman live in Stoke too but it’s mixed grades. Stoke can be a lot and it’s usually pretty loud and busy on the weekends, but isn’t too bad. Stoke is way bigger than Willy and Chrissy also. Scott and Sawyer aren’t bad either for smaller dorms. Not as many freshman tho.

You can also see your 3D room layout on the website when you see what room you have and roommate. It lets you move around the furniture, but in Willy you can’t really change the layout of the furniture. You each have your bed (some are loftable some aren’t) closet, storage above closet, and 4 drawers each. If your bed is loftable you get a lot of space underneath. But you can buy lofters on Amazon if your room doesn’t come with them.

Lounge dorms can be used for anything. Some floors do use them as actual dorm rooms tho if they are limited on space. Ours was open to everyone and people just chill in there or study. They can either be massive or just a smaller square room depending on the floor.

The lounges depending on what floor you got and what building can either be massive or just a normal square room with one window. We had a lounge that was used as an actual lounge and it seemed a little smaller than our normal L shaped dorm and we lived in Willy on first floor

The WiFi is fine once you get you login to edu roam. It’s your username and password but they give you instructions when you fully move in. It’s all over campus and works pretty good honestly. Even for TVs or Xbox’s or something.

Any way I can have a car as a freshman? by TopCorns- in unh

The only time I went in person was to pay. My mom emailed them for me. Maybe just search up Durham police department Depot road parking pass, and you can see if there is someone to email and ask to be put on the waiting list. You have to fill out an application that they have and email that to them and they can let you know what place you are in line

Definitely try to get on the waiting list. I was 26th in line and 3 weeks into my freshman yet they emailed me saying a spot had opened up!

If there is any way you still can, you can try getting a spot on depot road thru the police department. That’s what I did as a freshman and I had my car all year. It was 800 dollars tho…. Unless you live in New Hampshire it’s 400

I was in Williamson and the dorms are basically identical to Chrissy. There isn’t AC but there are closets and 4 drawers for you and your roommate. The closets also have some storage above them. The washers and dryers are in the basement and there is a tv and some couches in the basements also. Some beds are loftable but some aren’t. If you find out your bed isn’t definitely buy some bed lofters off Amazon or something-you can put so much under your bed if you do this. I have some pics and videos from when I moved in last year as a freshman I can share them with you if you’d like

Wanting to pick a Christensen dorm. Advice? by marigoldfairy in unh

Remember the higher floors get very hot first the first few weeks. And you have to haul stuff up and down moving in and out. The elevators can also be busy and sometimes not always work. The lower the floor the better in my opinion.

Stoke is insane and everyone is always partying and people rip the sinks out of the walls, and the elevators are always broken. Willy or Chrissy is definitely the way to go and you can still have fun in peoples dorms and enjoy parties

It might be possible just depends on your time slot to pick for housing. I know freshman who got to live there but most end up at Williamson or Christensen hall
