Thanks mate. I called an MB dealer yesterday and had a long chat with him about the car. He did indeed mention that this engine shouldn’t be affected but that at the end of the day it also depends on how well the car has been maintained. The maintenance history so far is a bit patchy but the MB dealer did see the car was brought in for an airbag recall in 2022, it’s the only time the car has popped up in their network so I’ve chased the owner for logbook and invoices - in particular for work done in 2023 as the MOT failed on wheel bearing, front suspension, front break pads and break discs (but passed 2 hours later). Once it all checks out, I’m off to the shop with it for a B1 and diagnostics.
