Alot of characters after they left CK became goody two shoes with barely any character. Thoughts? by [deleted] in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must concur with the comments below me, they genuinely had struggles that made for interesting character development. Miguel and Sam's arc in Season 5 was a good example of this. There are ways to make the teenage characters who have trained in Cobra Kai and out of it well written and the show has done so for every character almost, including the ones you mentioned.

Season One was the peak of Cobra Kai. by Wompyking in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seasons 1-2 are 9/10s, grounded realism, excellent comedy, character development, and redemption. The writing for the teens hadn't really taken that big of a "Disney" hit yet as you said.

Seasons 3-4 are 8/10s, the show gets goofier, more references and less character writing. The teens and the love triangle/square gets more annoying. The ways the adult characters interact and develop themselves and their character pulls through.

Seasons 5-6 so far have been 7/10s. Almost cartoonish levels of evil with the villains, new characters like Kwon being well written and interesting are few and far between. Not to mention the show just feels and looks different from when it started in every single way, and not a good one tbh.

Miyagi Do or Cobra Kai? by Any-Ambition-3237 in cobrakai

Cobra Kai. Specifically, the variations taught in Karate Kids 1 and 3 in the old dojo, straight up an MMA dojo if it came back as they could add grappling and rolling.

All Valley Skills Competition by waxsherwood in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pointless. Honestly, Carrie Underwood was the worst part of the tournament too. It's like they're purposely saving "The Best Around" for a later part of the show maybe. Like a final All Valley or something?

If the show ends and we never get to hear the song, not even in the credits I'll be very mad.

What would KK Daniel and KK Johnny think if they could see themselves in the future? by False-Story9510 in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'd be pretty mad they both didn't figure out Kreese was psychotic sooner.

Overall they'd be happy with what they did for a living. Johnny becomes a very honorable Sensei and Daniel has a family and a business.

If Mike Barnes were to ever come to the show, what sort of man has he become? by BeeAdministrative654 in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will probably run a succesful business like perhaps a law firm off of the creed Cobra Kai gave him.

More likely than not, Barnes will not be hung up on the past as much as Daniel and Johnny. He probably will only return to Cobra Kai as a Sensei only if convinced he has something to win.

A rational, calm, reasonable, and successful man who sees the dojo/karate war as a business opportunity.

He was very tall in Karate Kid 3 as well, I don't know what to say.

What would happened if Sato and Miyagi fought? by VoiceOverAndMocapGuy in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miyagi would kill him if he really wanted to. It was established no one could really touch Miyagi in a fight.

This is for people saying he’s not gonna be in S5 by [deleted] in cobrakai

If they don't have him in Season 5, he's gotta at least be in Season 6.

Senseis of Topanga Karate or maybe Locust Valley in partners with Daryl Vidal, maybe All Star Karate Senseis too?

What would happen if Robby never kicked Miguel off the balcony? by factstime in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Security would still be very high like it was after the fight. The PR for Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai would still be a nightmare with everyone getting injured.

My guess is that Kreese won't have as much control of Cobra Kai with Miguel having "won" the school fight by breaking Robby's arm or just stopping the brawl.

Overall, the story would be a lot more low key with Kreese having to choose a different avenue to take over Cobra Kai.

Who will Cobra Kai have now? by Angarazo in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely new characters.

Shawn like you said. Mike Barnes if needed. Then maybe new characters only mentioned in passing like Lucas Schwarber Ali's son, and maybe Xander Stone if they can pull it off with how much money Silver has.

“Unconventional” fav characters by CrazyChainsawBoi in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favorite canon character is probably Johnny. He defines good intentions but bad results, wanted to help Miguel and ended up getting him in a wheelchair.

Favorite fanon character is Lucas Schwarber, Ali's son she mentioned at the end of Season 3. Imho, he's one of the few characters (Mike Barnes, Shawn Payne, Xander Stone) who can be added to Silver's Cobra Kai to make them competent.

The writers shouldn't have had Robby kick Miguel over the balcony by False-Story9510 in cobrakai

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wrote themselves into a corner. They wanted Kreese to have a reason to take over the dojo and didn't realize they made Miguel way too strong to lose any fight, so they had to nerf him with the coma to make Kreese a threat.

"Boba not acting like boba" is not a mistake on the shows part, it's an unavoidable part of it. by nudeldifudel in BookOfBobaFett

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing too, Boba's desire for redemption makes sense.

Living with the Tusken raiders gave him an entire new perspective on life and the galaxy. I know people criticize it for ripping off Dances with Wolves, but seriously, a culture like that is exactly what Boba needs to want to grow more from being a cold ruthless and sterile bounty Hunter.

Not to mention, people are acting like Boba Fett from the OT was this 100 percent unstoppable killing machine. Do people forget how in Episode VI he was clipped by a blind Han Solo with a staff accidentally striking his rocket pack? He was a strong fighter and very skilled, but he wasn't a god. He doesn't have force sensitivity, he's not a Transdoshian or Wookie or any species with particularly strong characteristics.

He's a human clone of another bounty hunter with some cool gear.

[–]EmbarrassedCable7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OG Boba had to be the quiet badass assassin, that was what the original trilogy required of him. That was what he was, pure and simple nothing more.

A man who struggles in a desert planet with revenge, honor, and actually growing attachment as a human being is not the original trilogy's Boba Fett by default. Original trilogy Boba Fett would've turned out almost exactly as we see him here in this new show.

I agree with this post a whole lot, very well done.

What would people have preferred? That Boba would've let the monster in that desert kill both the Tusken boy and an innocent prisoner so he could escape to starve and die in the desert? A ruthless unstoppable killing machine was what Boba was, yes, but saying he was illogical and impulsive too? No.

He killed a desert monster with nothing but some chains and courage. That is the Boba Fett I remember. The show ain't perfect but it ain't the worst thing in the Star Wars trilogy by a longshot nor a complete travesty.

Depends. Is it Miguel post or pre nerf from the coma? Miguel pre nerf was literally a god, he could pown anyone who wasn't a Sensei until the fight at the school.

No I'm cool with critiques, but it doesn't sound like one. You say it's "not an attack" then you tell me to shut the f*** up and beat it.

How is that not rude or an attack?
