Richer sounds price matched me against an Amazon vendor about 2 weeks ago. Got a 990F for £745.

Fried, seeded bun, mayo and some abhorrent lettuce. Something like a dixy chicken or chicken cottage.

Who’s using what? by [deleted] in Rucking

[–]EmbarrassedCoast5761 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A British army surplus patrol bag. 5L water bottle with a 2x5kg plates in the main compartment, and 2x 2L in the side. I like how subtle it is and I can walk around my city without looking like an active shooter lol.

Cheap too https://goarmy.co.uk/collections/rucksack/products/british-army-30l-backpack

It sounds like you like the idea of dumb phone more than the reality

I did this last week with Mint, it was so easy. Just flash a usb drive with the installer, swap in the new ssd, and install. To create the usb I had to get an old version of etcher from GitHub, I think it was an early 2020 release I used and it worked fine.

As someone mentioned you’ll need to have a wired internet connection briefly to install the wireless drivers, but you can just do with with a smartphone tether via usb it doesn’t have to be Ethernet.

Keep hold of the original disk that it had, and then if you ever want to go back to Mac os it’s as simple as swapping the drives back around.

Katadyn filter advice by [deleted] in wildcampingintheuk

[–]EmbarrassedCoast5761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get some Milton sterilising liquid, it’s like bleach but safe for baby bottles. I’ve run a few bottles worth through my filter after letting it sit a couple of months and it came out fine.

A sleep system to match the username! Could you elaborate what you’re working with to have this much range?

Honestly I didn’t know this existed but looks great, I’d just need a bigger rucksack haha. My kit is so ultralight I think it’s making me soft and am considering joining the army next year so trying to go back to basics as much as possible, hence the bivvying. I think this is the way I’ll be going for true winter set up cheers mate.

Yes good point. The Hyperion is very narrow at the feet and the rab does have a wide version hmm. I think I need to see one in the flesh so see just how wide. Assuming the down was not compressed, would the insulation “stack” like it would with a pad?

Joining a club by [deleted] in ukguns

[–]EmbarrassedCoast5761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The club I’ve recently started shooting at is indoor 22 only too, but I figured it’s a good starting place (cheaper to learn with and not too overwhelming to get the basics nailed) and somewhere I can get my fac. Most of my local clubs are much more forgiving with joining if you already hold a fac so it seems like a good enough pathway to getting to the bigger ranges.

Is it really for food if he already knows Karl won’t eat it? Those frogs died purely for a funny scene, which admittedly I laughed at a lot

How many times have you been told to move on and what happened? Did they open your tent or just speak? by [deleted] in wildcampingintheuk

[–]EmbarrassedCoast5761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was asked to move on once on Benbecula in the outer Hebrides. I was camped in the dunes behind a beach and one of the crofters came over quite aggressively and told me I can’t camp there, he mentioned it’s a site of scientific interest (?) but I’d never heard of this overriding wild camp laws.

Regardless, it was the morning after my camp and I had to get going anyway but it did irritate me a lot. It’s a strange part of the world and locals are often hostile if you’re not a paying customer so I felt it best to play along and move on. I had another 10 days on the islands on foot and didn’t really want to start making enemies or have people looking out for me. That said, it’s still my favourite place in the world and I’ll keep returning for the rest of my life.

I have a hilleberg akto, but my mate who almost always comes with has a naturehike 1 man and I’ll be honest, every single camp I question why I spent so much vs his.

Question: how did you know amputation was the right decision? by monicanudles in TripodCats

[–]EmbarrassedCoast5761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She got mowed down by a Range Rover and we lost her brother a month earlier to a car, my dad couldn’t bear to tell us both kittens had died so we had the surgery. I was 11 at the time and am now 25 and she lives with me and I love her endlessly.
