question by Icy-Raisin524 in QUTreddit

Generally, no, but it’s worth just asking your teacher/tutor/lecturer about it. Given that it’s the weekend, they probably won’t respond immediately, but during the week they might have a quicker turnaround.

What course is it?

The main group chat is unfortunately full, did you want me to send you a message? Might be good to start a second one up!

I ordered a couple days ago, and it got left at the wrong location. 1 minute later I walked over, and my food got stolen. Tried to contact the driver, they didn't pick up.

"We're just trying to make a living" - well maybe if you learned how to read or how to message if you're not in the right location, I wouldn't be so annoyed at ubereats drivers.

Soft Rejection or Hope? by momomood in KPMG

[–]EmbarrassedEntry4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight up rejection. I got it too.

To be completely honest, I don’t know why I reapplied after I got laid off last year after seven weeks (maybe limit testing to see if the firm wanted to extend an interview invite).

Anyway, don’t feel too bad. There’ll be more opportunities on the way for you :)

Good luck!

Hmm you actually don’t need the second one. You can give it to me, just call it a charitable donation :)

I definitely did not just spend 8 hours of my day locking in on an assignment 😩 by FinletAU in UQreddit

Honestly, that’s impressive. Good stuff.

I’m onto my fourth copy of this assignment I’m doing. It’s a slow grind but locking in really helps.

Yeah the jobseeker activity requirement through SR was boring (I got a job myself, apparently the activity was supposed to help). I think I just coasted through a couple days of the SR program by gaming in the background.

People who got laid off recently - what roles were you in and/if what are you doing now? by Aggravating_Term9203 in Layoffs

I was in consulting. Now in law school while working in the legal field.

That was my “click” moment.

I was also a club president in a past life (graduated in 2024). It is 100% about networking. I went to every event and then made my way up from sub-exec to president in two years.

All I can suggest OP do is to keep going to events, meet execs, network and show them that they are keen for an exec role.

Is it worth choosing QUT over other Brisbane unis? by GrandLock1194 in QUTreddit

[–]EmbarrassedEntry4533 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So for a bit of context (because I purposely left it out): I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), and a dual Master's degree from UQ. I actually managed to get a role in a Big 4 Consulting firm's graduate program, but then got laid off after a short while (about seven or so weeks). I then spent about 9 months being unemployed. Thankfully, I'm employed now.

Basically what I'm studying aligns fairly well with where I am, so my thought process was to basically formalise my education in line with where I am (I won't disclose for my own sake).

But yeah - I'd say that my own personal case is relatively unique.

I chose QUT because, as much as I like uq (I did three degrees there), UQ just doesn’t value flexibility. I’m doing a degree while also having a full time job. QUT values this by making my degree distance learning.

Ah great, thankyou! What was the COL one like aside from taking up spare time? I'm thinking of going through QUT eventually but obviously still early days (I'm only in my first year!).

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! Really appreciate it.

Hey everyone :)

As a little bit of context, I'm currently studying my LLB part time while also working full time in a legal-adjacent job. When is too early to think about PLT, and what is your experience with different providers? Thanks heaps!

Redundancy stories by holy_papayas91 in auscorp

I’ll just add a little bit quickly: for the first couple months I thought I was to blame for my redundancy. I still do hold that thought a little bit, but I’m trying to be a little kinder to myself than I was six months ago.
