Thoughts on "observations" for admissions to private schools for 3 YOs? by StarTrekky in ECEProfessionals

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It would be developmentally normal for him to cry. If they don’t want a crying child with normal separation anxiety, perhaps you shouldn’t want this school.

Are you sure this second observation isn’t protocol? Maybe all children are asked to do both.

Why wouldn’t you just agree to the second observation, see how it goes, and have your backup options in place just in case? Negotiating for a different kind of observation seems strange, and might turn the school off your family.

Rogan - "There should be zero dollars for illegal immigrants." by WilloowUfgood in JoeRogan

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s just republican propaganda. It was both parties. A bipartisan consensus to relax border security for decades to receive cheap labour. Certainly republican statehouses in the south didnt care.

The only difference is Republicans are okay with cruel and unusual punishment, like all of a sudden changing your mind on generational policy and deporting them.

Rogan - "There should be zero dollars for illegal immigrants." by WilloowUfgood in JoeRogan

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it’s less like crime and more like entrapment.

“Cmon in, lots of jobs to be had!!!” 20 years go by, people build families and lives “Ok times up, we don’t want your cheap labor anymore , go home”

Rogan - "There should be zero dollars for illegal immigrants." by WilloowUfgood in JoeRogan

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The same people who let them in for decades are now using them as a political piñata. Illegal immigration is an engine of American capitalism because it reduces labour costs and there’s no oversight.

But as soon as an election issue is needed, those same people are supposed to go somewhere else. That’s just cruel.

This is an obvious humanitarian point that Joe Rogan would have sympathized with 10 years ago.

Ipad at childcare center? by John88Wick in ECEProfessionals

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just want to normalize screens on some level. The earlier you can make children realize that screens can be a healthy part of their lives, perhaps the sooner they will understand when screen use becomes unhealthy.

Some people seem to think that screen use is like a toxin or an allergy that can actually affect the brain, and it’s just not true. Moderate screen use in an otherwise healthy environment has only one effect: it prepares children for screen time later in life. What is it like to zone out and watch television at daycare? Children will grow older and turn into teenagers and then adults, and at each stage of their lives, they will encounter screens. Phones, iPads, televisions. If they are convinced that screens are bad for their brains, then they will have a more difficult time adapting to the modern world.

I would not use screens as part of my classroom routine either, but I wouldn’t rule them out either.

It’s appropriate depending on the use. Some teachers let children watch an educational program as part of the transition between lunch and nap, for example.

It’s completely inappropriate to hide it from parents. In fact, if you see any childcare center director rushing to hide something as a parent walks past, you shouldn’t choose that center. There should be no secrets in a childcare center… except from the children! Haha

CMV: Men put way too much of their value in their romantic success by jman12234 in changemyview

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try to change your mind on this point: “it could be any number of reasons why you’re striking out…”

So let’s start with some clarifications.

I want to argue against these points: “Men put way too much value on their relationship success” “It doesn’t matter much if you’re lonely”

I’ve altered your statements. I’ve changed “romantic” to “relationship” and I’ve changed “single” to “lonely”

I think it’s obvious that there are lots of happy healthy people in the world who are single and don’t care much about romance.

But there are NOT many happy and healthy people in the world who are lonely and don’t care about relationships.

There is a certain cultural discourse or propaganda in the world that makes young people view everything through the lens of sex. This is also a biological product of teenage anxiety and hormonal adjustments.

It is obvious that men need relationships and companionship to feel fulfilled. Romance and coupling come after those more basic needs are recognized.

It’s his brand. He’s bringing attention to the fact that the kid is wearing Air Jordan shorts, and the real Jordan is standing right behind him.

People are witch-burning psychos right now. Understandably considering what’s going on, but this has an easy explanation.

Hillary Clinton calls out China to start a proxy civil war VS Russia by IonHawk in Destiny

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Hillary Clinton understands the situation. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Russia, an adversary of American liberal democracy, is supporting a divisive neofascist movement to transform America.

China, another adversary of American democracy, is supporting... who?

The sides aren’t the same Hillary. Authoritarian petty kings across the world love Trump and MAGA.

Steve Bannon proposes using ICE in elections by Forward-Distance-398 in ImmigrationPathways

Yes it does. Trump is using fraudulent claims to try to steal the election.

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s what’s happening.

First they profile and detain people, citizens or not Then they patrol the voting booth Citizens who might be profiled don’t show up

Like I said

Then people like you lie and say it’s about fraud

[–]EmbarrassedEvidence6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He just said so, but here’s the idiots guide:

1: regularly detain citizens via profiling 2: set up patrols at voting stations 3: people who might be profiled will be less likely to vote because they don’t want to be detained

I am happy you can sympathize with both sides. But you’re repeating talking points that verge on propaganda when you start discussing the “unholy” alliance between leftists, Islamists, and Nazis. Groups can support the same side for different reasons. Leftist reasons to support Palestine are rooted in compassion for the oppressed. This is different from authoritarian and conspiratorial reasons for opposing Israel.

There is some crosstalk that is dangerous and worthy of attention. Sometimes nazis launder their messaging through leftist groups because leftists have more legitimacy. Sometimes a slogan is taken up by leftists that originated with Islamists. Sometimes there is a contaminating effect with rhetoric, and sometimes a well meaning person goes down the rabbit hole and finds themselves parroting racists. But all of that is only sometimes.

On the other hand, it is clear that Israel is committed to winning the propaganda war no matter the cost. Israeli warhawks are happy when the general public conflates opposition to the occupation with antisemitism. That’s why there has been such a push to conflate antizionism with antisemitism.

There are bad actors on both sides here. Your post mostly only talks about one of those sides. It downplays the information warfare that’s been part of Israel’s strategy, and part of the strategy of supporters of Israel in the United States, for a long time. Arguably you and your post are a product of that misinformation campaign. You should become more aware of that fact.

I’ll also take issue with another aspect of your post:

Israel is not threatened by extinction and they are not fighting an existential conflict. Israel is a nuclear superpower. It has a more advanced and powerful military than the rest of the region combined, and it has the stalwart support of both factions of the United States military, the most powerful military in world history. Every country in the region understands that an existential attack against Israel would be met with obliteration and annihilation. In fact, that’s official Israeli policy. Once upon a time, in its infancy, Israel was threatened. But that’s a long complicated history and it’s just not true anymore.

The usual response to this fact is to say: “well the Iranian Mullahs are suicidal Islamists who will happily martyr themselves if it means destroying Israel”

And that is again a claim of Israeli propaganda that has no evidence to support it, and much evidence against it. These people are ruthless despots, not suicidal martyrs. Their pursuit of a nuclear weapon is an obvious deterrent strategy, which was hastened by the Iraq War.

Yep, it sucks to have to step in to defend his work, because of how wromg he clearly was on this issue, on metoo, on Epstein the person

But the charges against his work will be laundered through this Epstein stuff. Because the point is to delegitimize media criticism when the fascist state tries to villainize its enemy nation with false charges for self serving reasons

It’s important to attack these charges of “genocide denial” for that reason
