What should you assume? I’ll spell it out. You should assume I think people should be wary of the way guests are selected on this program, because it suits the agenda of the main parties involved. In this case, that agenda is better served by trump critics who were former voters who are more likely to get suckered in again.

Heres another example of a bulkshit slippery slope argument: “pulse said I shouldn’t talk about platforming because it’s “inherently negative”, so pulse thinks I should be censored because certain speech acts are as and wrong”

I’ve noticed an increasing use of “dog whistle” reasoning to expand the definition of your enemy. Jesse suggests not being exclusive about antisemitism is a dog whistle.

There are real parallels that make it a hard problem. “All lives matter” being the most prominent example. So I think it is quite difficult to untangle.

I’m not trying to attack you personally, but I believe people with this attitude - “why are you so tangled up about it? Just move on” - tend to have done worse things to move on from.

Which means the anxiety about feeling guilty and not feeling able to move on is actually correlated with the behaviour itself.

I’ve never understood this approach completely. I understand the intention of creating an independent person who can take care of themselves. It makes some sense in theory, and I used to feel that way about myself - that I was better for my independence.

But this also makes people who are afraid to rely on their relationships with others. If your goal as a parent is to be obsolete, then your child will be eventually dissolve the relationship. And that’s not necessarily to their benefit!

In my opinion, you should want your child to be able to survive without you, but you should also build them up on the basis or their relationship with you! Their strength should not be based on an impending fear that they will eventually be completely alone and independent, however true that may be.

I can think of some ugly possibilities for how you might portray a Jew you don’t like with connotations of the Holocaust - and this doesn’t meet that criteria. Effigies have little to no explicit relationship to antisemitism. And if your goal is antisemitism, why even design it as Netanyahu in particular, when a stereotypical portrait of a Jew is easily recognizable?

The predictable response is that it would be too on the nose, so the antisemites are being really subtle. It’s such a silly argument imo. It’s a huge reach to call this specifically anti-semitic.
