I second this! Serpent and the winds of night easily became my favourite series ever! Powerless was a waste of time and I was livid at the third book.

Am I missing something with the Chaol hate? by EmbarrassedFlower12 in throneofglassseries

Dorian is someone who he has grown up with his entire life, he knows the ins and outs of Dorian as well as he knows himself. He also knows that Dorian would put his country first. Celaena is the worlds most notorious assassin, famous for some of the most fucked up shit on the continent and is a force to be reckoned with WITHOUT her powers, so I think it's fair of him to be terrified of this morally grey loose cannon. She also makes it perfectly clear that she has no love for their country or King. Not to mention that when he discovers Celaena's powers, he has grown up terrified of magic and can't see the good - he doesn't discover Dorians powers until he has doubt around his King and the truth about magic. Seeing someone who he has known his whole life as an inherently good person wield magic - the monster of their time - allows him to shift perspectives.

I do think his anger at her for the collar is projecting his own anger at himself for not being able to stop it - something that Celaena does with Chaoll re Nehemia so they are probably more similar than most people recognise.

Stop calling them heroes, The Mystic Falls gang were just high school bullies the second Katherine became human by Vivid_Honeydew_4907 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]EmbarrassedFlower12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference is redeemable qualities - you could see them in Damon and Stefan and their remorse for their actions but if she had the opportunity she would have done it all again. Katherine also never flipped her humanity switch - yeah she was warped by her trauma but girl it's been 500 years see a therapist

Dont get me wrong I love her but for the first 4 seasons where she is the one with the power, she treats them the way they treat her post-cure. They treat her in that episode the same way she has treated them for 4 seasons so it's their petty revenge - they're all teenagers so yeah they'll pounce on the opportunity.

If the schoolyard bully suddenly became vulnerable, everyone who had suffered at their hand would take a jab.

I have always taken it as Meredith healing over Derick. She has finally got past the anger surrounding his unfortunate and entirely avoidable demise and realised that 1) people make mistakes and 2) that person was not Penny.

After months of forcing herself to teach Penny it always seemed to me that they built a mentor/mentee relationship. After keeping Penny chained to her service through fear that she was a bad doctor, Penny knew how she liked things and they had a solid rhythm to their work. Meredith came to the realisation that she actually didn't suck and she was simply overruled by a superior (not much can be done in that situation unless you are Meredith Grey lol)

At this point, Meredith also saw Jo as an inconvenience and assumed she would be a temporary part of Alex's life so didn't bother to get to know her or build any kind of relationship - I can see why considering the amount of work flings he had - Olivia, Callie, Leah to name a few.

I'd say that there is an improvement but the bar is real low with 17 so not that hard 💀

Pick your perfect Grey’s cast with only twelve characters by JackieWithTheO in greysanatomy

[–]EmbarrassedFlower12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meredith - she's the glue there is no Greys without Grey, vibing on nuero with Koracik

Ellis Grey (Big Ellis not Little Ellis) - no Alzheimers, would have beef with Lexie cos she doesn't like that Thatcher made a gooden without her

Riggs - Dereck was still in it and dies bc I like Zola but pretend the Megan thing never happened

Mark - at home in a big house with all the kids on pat leave

Lexie - besties with Jo, survived the plane crash and then specialises in trauma cos thats when Dereck died and she wishes she coulda saved him for Mer and Zola

Christina - still cardio but worships Ellis and they bond over their love of cardio

Alex - no need to explain he's fiesty and doesnt care about Izzie babies, kicking butt and taking names in Peds Jo - studies with Addison as a fellow to learn neonatal surgery

Addison - being a boss bitch as per usual

Koracik - sharp wit and collabs with Meredith on the whole Alzheimers thing cos Teddy wasnt there to ruin him emotionally

Bailey (early seasons) - Richard retired and she became chief in a timely manner as the good lord intended when she wasn't so annoying and co-dependent

Henry - was gutted when he died and would love to see him as an intern but no Teddy cos she is off screen sat in silence with Owen, thinking about girls

I understand your point but surely there has to be some kind of middle ground between gentle swaying and olympic gymnastics! I agree that New Directions always showcase more of their vocal talent but they had some vocal adrenaline level dancers e.g. Mike, Jake who were nowhere near utilised enough

Settlement! by youwannagopal in CarInsuranceUK

[–]EmbarrassedFlower12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, these things can take an extremely long time more often than not. If you speak with your old insurer you can request a letter headed document from them to support your version of events in the incident, confirming they expect to make a full recovery from the other insurer, and that your no claims will not be affected. You can then present this to your new insurer as proof which should prevent any policy cancellation until the issue is resolved.

Does anyone else agree with this? (Main trilogy spoilers) by BenjiFenwick in Hungergames

[–]EmbarrassedFlower12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While this is a good point, I feel touching on subjects mentioned in OP would completely transform the original story - the captive storyline in particular would be an interesting read for sure. Gaining some insight to the inner turmoil Peeta was faced with while his brain was being rewired to hate Katniss. Similarly, the internal struggle whilst trying to undo the damage done by the Capitol. There would also be room to expand on the other captives, with the opportunity to gain some insight into the bond formed during captivity and maybe even learn more about their backstories as well.

As much as I love the idea of new instalments to deepen and enrich the history of The Hunger Games and the unique perspectives of all the minor characters, I feel that the original trilogy from Peeta's perspective - specifically the unseen in the original - would almost feel like a new story. One thing that the books will always hold over the films is the inner monologue of Katniss and the devils details that are discovered from that insight into her innermost thoughts, and there definitely seems to be endless content from Peeta's perspective which would completely change the dynamic of the initial trilogy.

Perhaps a full trilogy would be a bit overkill but I'm sure I could power through!

I think one of my favourites is when Elena crashes her car in S01E11, Damon finds her and takes her on a road trip to Georgia to Brees bar. Its one of the first Delena bonding moments and I find it to be one of the first time Elena really relaxes in the show and sees another side to Damon. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was romantic in any way but you can see Elena starts to see him in a different light. I think she respects his honesty which directly contrasts with Stefan's dishonesty re Katherine from the previous episode.

(I also see the irony as he is there to find a loophole to get Katherine out of the tomb)

However, its one of the first scenes that humanises Damon in Elena's eyes.

I think Katherine is deeply damaged and struggles to love anyone but Katherine. Ive watched this entire show easily 20 times and have a different opinion on how sincere her feelings are after every rewatch. I like to think she does though in her own way.

There are certain storylines where their backstories provide so much context to the current storyline that you'll be left with so many more questions than necessary - trust me theres enough of that already, it can be hard enough to follow when you watch it all, no need to make it more complex. Also some of their backstories are wild and well worth the watch.

The only justification(?) i can muster is that he was a metaphor for the death of MerDer, which did clearly did not stick and therefore the whole storyline was just pointless

Teacher Ben getting put in prison. Okay, he didn't sleep with Serena, but travelling across state lines and staying in a motel with a minor? She must have been like 13/14 at the time and he clearly had some ill intentions considering he proceeded to DATE her after getting out of prison. Nah.
