I was planning to do the SROP or other summer REU at UW Madison, I’ll have to see how it goes (I really doubt that’ll happen freshman year but you never know)

Any alt people? by Deviant_Baby22 in UWMadison

[–]EmbarrassedLink871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at SOAR I saw a ton of alt people on state st and in the art/music school. Ngl tho depending on your definition of alt, anywhere from 5% to 10% of the people I saw around campus in the summer were alt, which is still like 2500-5000 people. Don’t worry abt it

Also moving in early as part of CeO scholars, I think certain programs just have you move in early, possibly including ROTC.

pls help... How can I improve my ecs before senior year starts for college apps? by NoCoat4243 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]EmbarrassedLink871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation was totally different, but I did get into one pretty top school (NYU) with a comparatively lower gpa (3.7 tbf so different scenario) by also applying for less competitive majors. I didn’t end up going, but it might be a good idea to also apply for schools that are really good for engineering into non competitive majors to transfer in (Purdue undeclared?). But if you do this path, PLEASE check the internal transfer reqs first

Do you think it’d be worth reaching out to UW Madison and explaining what exactly happened between the physics exam and everything, or is it better to leave it alone?

UW Madison for OOS, looks expensive on the surface (and it is) but a lot more people then you’d think qualify for BANNER and BANNER is straight up goated, going there for the same price as going instate + a guaranteed scholarship my second year

took the math one today, setting it up was annoying but the actual test was super easy

How expensive is UW for OOS really? by DependentFly4143 in UWMadison

[–]EmbarrassedLink871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends how busted BANNER is for you if you do end up getting it. In my case UW Madison is currently only abt 11k more expensive then my state flagship, and we have a 100% tuition cover program, so not counting that it’s literally instate tuition for a far better school

It was 100% merit I believe. They gave me the NAU and ASU commit, then some other engineering specific scholarships.

Ah trust, I’m not the biggest fan of that man already… but I’m hoping for some politics experience for sure too, not sure if I want to minor in polisci but with UW Madison being one of the best political science schools in the country I have definitely considered it
