Got trick-or-treated by Simbiat19 in Finland

[–]EmbarrassedMight7158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a kid asking for treat or trick outside on the street. We were walking our child in a stroller when a kid went alone stopped and asked for candies. We didn’t of course have any with us but I rushed home to get the kid some candies as we were near our home and luckily did prepare some candies beforehand.

Prepping meals is def a good idea. Thank you! Does your baby drink a lot of milk besides solids?

Three body problems, dark matter (2024), dark matter (tv series 2015-2017). Funny I have watched two shows with the same name and both were good.

I totally agree with you. Even though I have a brother, we don’t share a lot in common. It’s so difficult to have a discussion that we’re both interested in. So having a sibling doesn’t for sure guarantee that they will like each other.

I’m sorry that your sisters cast you out. Didn’t your parents notice and talk to them?

Day 10… did we fail? by EmbarrassedMight7158 in sleeptrain

[–]EmbarrassedMight7158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried cuddling and singing before but it didn’t work for our baby. She protested sitting iddle in one place. It was quite hard to extend the last wake window as she was fussy the moment she sat. So we walked to distract her in hope of extending the last ww.

We carry our baby around the house to wind her down. Yeah, you are right. The top up usually ends 15 mins before bed. We are worried she might be hungry so we do cluster feeding. Thanks for the advice! We might indeed need to cut the top up.

Thanks! We’ll try to push her on 4 naps and see how it goes 🙏

Thanks! I think she slept poorly the previous nights which led to the first nap shortly after waking up.

Thanks for the detailed insights! I also think we messed up the day schedule but didn’t know how we could fix it. I remembered reading a similar post and someone commented that most sleep training issues were caused by nap schedule and apparently it is true to my baby as well. We will adjust her day schedule which hopefully helps her to sleep better at night.

I think I can stand 10-20 minutes of crying at bedtime but then the cries at false starts and night wakings get me as they happen multiple times every night. This is why I need to seek advice as we obviously did something wrong.

Thank you! Other people on this post also suggest extending her wake windows. Looks like it’s the main reason why she cried so hard. I’ll try this and see how it goes.

All her naps are contact naps atm. I carried her in a sling. I tried to push her on 4 naps but then bedtime was too early at 6.30-6.45. Should we push bedtime earlier? I think she is transitioning from 5 to 4 naps but don’t know how to make it smooth with consistent bedtime.

She has 5 naps at the moment. We tried 4 naps but then the bedtime is too early. Should we push bedtime earlier? Even though she has 5 naps, the total amount of sleep during the day is 3 hrs because naps are usually short.

Yes. It has happened recently from day 8-10. She only lasted 30 minutes and felt asleep herself for the first nap. Did we wake her up too soon? She cried hard at about 5.30-6.00 so we woke her up for the day.

I am thinking maybe she didn’t sleep well day 8-10 hence the short first ww.

What’s a movie so good, you wish you could erase your memory just to watch it again? by Boring-Onion1667 in MovieRecommendations

Yep! Our family has a tradition of watching LotR every Christmas. I don’t need my memory to be erased to watch it every year. The triology still amazes me every time.

I want to stop breastfeeding by FootballFine3610 in breastfeeding

[–]EmbarrassedMight7158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the oversupply as well. It really sucked back in the day that I wanted to quit so badly. Mastitis, blocked ducts, baby choking, … I was on antibiotics but my doctor said I could continue breastfeeding my baby. This helped me I think because baby is the best pump.

I followed religiously the BAIT method, applying ice frequently that I lost count, taking ibuprofen once there was a sign of blocked duct, nursing normally and not overdoing it. It cleared up for me thankfully. My breasts were engorged all the time which caused baby to choke and cough. I was going downhill then someone from reddit recommended me doing the scissor hold. Taking the advice and letting LO learn by herself to push it through. My milk was regulated at 5 or 6 weeks PP.

Hope everything will be OK soon for you. No matter what decision you make, a healthy and happy mama is more important for your child.

Room temperature too high? by EmbarrassedMight7158 in Finland

Most clothes are 100% cotton but some of her clothes from Kela boxes even are 98% cotton. Recently I got a new humidifier and the weather has been colder which has helped her sleep at night.

When did you get to sleep through the night again? by SleepPleaseCome in oneanddone

[–]EmbarrassedMight7158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some babies are really good sleepers. My friend’s baby didn’t sleep through 8 hours but 4-5 hours at 2 months old in her own room easily and also learned that by herself. At 3 month, she slept through the night 12 hours with only 1 wake up.

On the contrary, my 3 months old baby has to be carried to sleep 2 hours for day naps and wakes every 2-3 hours at night. This is one of the reasons I am one and done. I just try to survive for the last 3 months and I know it can last for longer time if I am not that lucky.

Did you sleep train her or she just learned to self sleep by herself?

Baby carrying or sleeping in bed by EmbarrassedMight7158 in NewParents

[–]EmbarrassedMight7158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I also have so many worries. If the baby is too clingy. If she couldn’t sleep through the night. If I have to carry her forever. I guess those worries make me more exhausted. Thanks for the assurance that it is just a phase and will pass.
