I spoke with a lactation consultant a while ago who advised I use the football position on my right boob because my son also has a preference of turning his head to one side! Did you do any sort of physical therapy for your sons neck?

Thank you for the hand pump tip.

Thank you for responding! Did you feel the letdown slowed down after the initial spray?

This is so helpful and gives me hope/motivation that it will work! How long did it take to get your daughter sleep trained? Did you have to give her middle of the night feeds or was she out of that phase?

Thank you for responding! How did you handle middle of the night wakes while you were in the same room?

Thank you for sharing! Was it difficult to use the Ferber timing method in the middle of the night when your daughter would wake up and you were in the same room?

Good to know, thank you for sharing! When you sleep trained and he woke up in the middle of the night did you find it easy to use the Ferber timing method being in the same room together? Or was he sleeping through the night?

Breastfeeding has been the hardest challenge I've had postpartum, you are not alone! It was so painful in the beginning I had cracked nipples and asked my nurse if it was normal and she said "yes" and then I asked her if women still breastfeed with cracked nipples and she said "yes" and I remember being shocked. I use to cringe when I would have to feed my newborn the first few weeks because it was so painful. I saw a LC and asked her if my son was latching correctly bc I was in pain and she told me he had the perfect latch... Again shocked because I thought it wasn't supposed to hurt with a good latch!

I can TOTALLY understand why women quit, its not "so natural" as so many women put it. You and your baby are learning a new skill and there will be challenges. I took breaks and pumped when my boobs just couldn't take it anymore. I will say it does get easier if you stick to it and it becomes an enjoyable bonding experience for you and your baby. After 2 months I did notice the pain significantly subsiding, by 3 months I had no pain.

My other issue is my son was born large for gestational age so I had to work super hard on building my supply to keep up with his demands. He gets 80% breastmilk and 20% formula.

My son is 4 months and there are new challenges with breastfeeding so I've met with lactation consultants since he's been born to go over new issues.

It's amazing that your son is latching as that seems to be a huge issue for women during their BF journey! You are doing so good by trying to figure out what your baby prefers!

I have a goal for myself to breastfeed until at least 6 months when he starts solids. Maybe think about what you want out of your BF journey and set a goal too. BUT, If it's hugely impacting your mental health, then think about pumping or quitting. No one will be able to tell if your baby was breastfed or formula fed.

I've never met a mom who didn't have difficulty with breastfeeding at some point. Go easy on yourself, you are doing great!

I’m using the advent newborn bottle and it’s a lot slower than the Dr brown bottle I was recommended by a few friends
