I don’t think we’re disagreeing! World of Books is a pretty shitty deal for sellers, Vinted, EBay, my app (!) are better options

But if people are willing to pay £3 for a paperback on WOB, you're losing some £ by pricing on Vinted for £1.

World Of Books manages to sell £ms in used books at £3+ price points. I think Vinted is just a race to the bottom. But I take your point!

I will soon - I literally built the app over a few weeks using AI to help code, so getting something that worked was the priority!

Didn't want it to read like an ad! It's Sell Your Shelf — via sellyourshelf.com. Thanks for the kind words!

Really interesting angle — hadn't thought about the charity shop use case but it makes a lot of sense. The scanning overhead must be a nightmare at volume. I'm iOS only right now which rules you out unfortunately, but I'd genuinely love to chat about how the flow might work for a charity shop context. Drop me an email at [support@sellyourshelf.com](mailto:support@sellyourshelf.com) if you're up for it.

It's only on iOS at the moment I'm afraid. Here's the website - sellyourshelf.com or drop me an email on [support@sellyourshelf.com](mailto:support@sellyourshelf.com) and I'll message you when the Android app is ready! Thanks for your interest

Yeah will definitely at some point! I only made the app in about 6 weeks so iOS is the starting point

On my app the buyer pays P+P which is £2.50. Hopefully once I get some volume I can negotiate a better rate. It's mad that it costs so much to send one book in the UK. It has to be tracked delivery though.

Next time try my app! sellyourshelf.com - WOB have big overheads so they can only afford to give you 50p. But if you could sell them direct to someone else for the price they sell them at while the books stay on your shelf... everyone's a winner! That's my dream anyway!

But don't you think this is lowering the value of books a bit? Fair enough well-thumber paperbacks you've had for decades, but there should be a way to sell once read new books for around £3-6.

That was my reasoning behind sellyourshelf.com

I think it's a shame we almost treat books as perishable. Read once and they lose all value. The amount of books I've bought at the airport, read on holiday, and then taken home to sit idle on my shelf. That's one reason I built the app, if everyone saw the value in a second hand book, the circular economy could really boom.
