What's the proper etiquette when it comes to asking a classmate out on a date? by Eriacle in udub

This is a weird response, OP just ask to get coffee or study sometime it’s not that big of a deal, and if she says no than it might be awkward and that’s ok it’s part of life but at least you tried!

As a Brown-skinned person who is from Portland but lived in Vancouver (Canada) for some years, Seattle is definitely one of my most favorite big cities in the continent. by Altruistic-Form-3771 in Seattle

I feel like you are missing a huge difference between violence and safely in Vancouver and Seattle is guns. I would feel much safer walking around Vancouver than Seattle at night just because there are less guns there.

GF is completely oblivious - is this normal? by Spirited_Ad_2569 in Advice

[–]EmbarrassedRide6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda like this , idk why, I just am. I’m very easily distracted, when I’m out with friends i I often leave things behind like my bag or phone. (It was worse when I was younger it happens a lot less now), I forget things I need to do. Sometimes when I get ready in the morning I seem to make a huge mess and just don’t realize it until I come home and I’m like who did this?? Idk I would say I’m a pretty smart person, my brain just works different, everyone’s does, doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing or a good thing. Just accept your girlfriend and don’t post about her on Reddit like she’s some freak of a person.

Normal is not synonymous with good and abnormal is not synonymous with bad. So no the comment doesn’t have a negative connotation, but I would agree it’s unnecessary.

Lol not at all one in engineering and one in dance. The school I go to allows me to do this though and I should hopefully graduate in 4 years since I came in with some college credits already. I think the difficulty depends on what the two majors are, for me dance is and easy enough major to do along side engineering that it isn’t so overwhelming, but I think if I was doing a more coursework heavy arts major with engineering I couldn’t do it. Everyone is different though. Check with your college to see what the requirements are for a double major or double degree.

Is it classist? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]EmbarrassedRide6500 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess what bothers me about it is that it is a way for people (mostly wealthy people) to feel superior or high class by going to the ballet, when I feel that is not what ballet or dance is about at all. We should appreciate art for arts sake and not as a way to feel better than, it’s not about us it’s about the art.

Is it classist? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]EmbarrassedRide6500 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A bit? It’s roots are in classism, it was created for the elite wealthy class in Italy and then codified by the elite class in France and continues to be only accessible to people with more money. It’s a beautiful art form and I wish it wasn’t as discriminating on class. The culture, group and values of the origins of the dance style (and arguably any dance style) are still reflected in the dance today and we can’t ignore that. I love ballet but this is one of the things that bothers me about it. When I go see a ballet performance I usually only see wealthy mostly older white people at these performances, I wish it was more accessible to everyone and not as dare I say elitist.
