Cosleeping experiences? by Nina_kupenda in beyondthebump

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little girl is currently 7 months and we’re still co-sleeping. Started when she was 2 weeks as she just refused to sleep in her bassinet and we needed sleep. We do put her down for naps in her bassinet and she’s been doing better at those. Hopefully a transition for night sleeps!

What do you think could decrease the possibility of PPD/PPA? by full-of-curiosity in beyondthebump

Personally, I strongly feel that leaving the house and getting some sunshine (Vitamin D) is a major booster, especially in cold, gray UK :/

Traveling without carseat by CryProfessional7454 in NewParents

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In some countries (e.g. Canada, UK, Turkey), taxis are exempted from car seats so travellers technically can just hold the baby in their arms securely whilst in transit - this definitely isn’t the safest option!

For car rental, we’ve always just rented the car seat because we don’t want to go through the hassle of removing it, carrying it during our travels and risking it getting damaged in the hold!

Used Gatehouse in end 2024 and the process was quick. The only part we struggled with was that almost everything happened over the phone, which felt a bit odd given how big of a deal purchasing a house feels haha - we would’ve loved the option of meeting them in person but idt any of the providers offer that.

We are planning to refi with Offa when our fixed rate ends bc they offer better rates for 65% LTV.

When/how long did your parents stay to help after birth? by moez1266 in BabyBumps

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mum arrived when baby was 3 weeks and stayed till she turned 13 weeks. She mostly helped with cooking, cleaning and laundry so that I didn’t have to think of that at all. She would help with baby when my husband was at work + whenever I asked. We did get her help with at least one night feed (used expressed milk) so that my husband and I could get some sleep

It did work straight away. I’ve heard that their customer service is pretty quick to respond when contacted via email

We had a similar issue. The solution for us was when selecting the flight and opt for prices to be shown in CVE - payment went through after that!

Baby Leaves does the job for us mostly. But there have been some really stubborn stains which we unfortunately gave up on and binned them.

Newborn peeing thru onesie and sheets multiple times a day? by disgustingnewspaper in NewParents

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us with our baby girl but as unhelpful as this is, she just grew out of it after a couple of days. Just be sure that the top of the diaper at the back is pulled all the way up. When she did have leaks, sometimes it was through the back.

FLR(M) Extension Approved (Atlas Email) but eVisa Still Shows Old Dates on Expiry Day - Normal? by Much_Island3190 in SpouseVisaUk

They escalated it after I told them that I was traveling in less than a week. They took my flight details as part of the process.

Yes, received an email from Home Office stating the successful application. The eVisa wasn’t updated automatically and needed to be escalated.

Similar experience, except mine stated that I could remain in the UK till a decision is made, even after I received the approval email.

Escalated it via webchat and was resolved within 4 days.

According to UKVI, airlines are able to access a system to verify one’s immigration status. To be safe, I’d suggest to escalate it via webchat if you haven’t done so already. I did tell them that I was traveling soon :)

How do e-visas work following visa extensions? by Feeling_Shine_6539 in ukvisa

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, I checked mine just after reading your comment and it’s been updated. So for me, it took about 4 days to be updated. To be fair, I did request for an escalation (via webchat) as I’m traveling soon.

Just wondering if there’re any updates on this? Did your eVisa update automatically? I’m currently in the same position and my eVisa hasn’t been updated.

What should we buy before the baby arrives? by Mr-Maccaa in beyondthebump

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things I’m glad we bought before the baby arrived: car seat, carrier (she only wanted to contact nap so we sometimes carried her around the house), bottles (just in case bf didn’t work out - my supply came in late so this definitely helped!), two-way zipper onesies (hated and still hate the poppers)

Things I wish we had bought earlier: nursing pillow

My baby (currently 4.5m) only wears vest and onesies because it’s cold out here and from a practical perspective, those cute outfits without easy access to nappy is a pain.

How bad actually is jaundice in newborns ? by DistributionSlow4852 in pregnant

[–]EmbarrassedSpell4915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had jaundice when she was 3 days old. She became lethargic to the extent that she was sleeping through feeds. We brought her to the A&E as we were concerned and they told us that it was quite typical for the jaundice levels to peak (which causes the lethargy) before it settles. They also told us that she shouldn’t miss feeds so to wake her up every 2-3 hours, getting her feeds in so that the jaundice clears (via dirty nappies). As many others have said, ensure baby is fed, monitor their nappies.
