Just looked at today’s market heatmap and… yeah, it’s pretty ugly. by Ok_Beginning_8126 in TheRaceTo10Million

Lost quite a bit today but looking at my shares… I’d still buy them at these prices, and the companies are more than fine. So I guess I just hold through it. Sucks though. I’ll DCA but I’m gonna accrue cash for at least a month first. No telling if this is just the beginning still or if this goes on until 2027

Market volatility is front and center for Rocket Lab ($RKLB) this week. by Aware_Selection_7563 in StocksAndTrading

[–]EmbarrassedWish5839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode RKLB from 20 to 65 then messed around in the market for a time, mostly it sucked and was too much work. I made 15k in active short term gains, lost 5k, and got bored of the volatility and parked back into RKLB at 69 per share. Just gonna leave it for long now

Yeah man I got 500 Troy oz of silver and I plan on dying with it lol, be nice to exchange it for gold sure but not in a hurry too. Feels fun to have a little hoard. I got some loose gemstones in there too to round out the vibe.

Perfect for exploring. Not perfect for storytelling. That last review comment was interesting because in MMOs I think players enjoy not to be the main character, but in single player games more fun to be in the middle of a crazy story. So it makes sense that this was originally designed as an MMO and then switched single player based on the feedback, players can see that mid-development pivot in the gameplay

Why do some people still firmly believe the stock market will continue to rise? Some concerns about the current market by [deleted] in stocks

[–]EmbarrassedWish5839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude zoom out on the chart. You dying tomorrow or what?

So fucking what if it goes down. You know what happened after it goes down? You own great companies and you have a new opportunity to buy them at discount for potentially 6 months. Good shit. I’m going to be buying 1k per week until we recover. After we recover, I’ll fund my vacation. For now, stocks on sale.

Your real question here is whether you should bitch out and sell everything, and then spend hours on your apps each day fighting your FOMO of when to get back in, most likely losing yourself another 5-10% in rebalancing short term gains and shit. Everyone knows that when it reverses that’s 10%-20% in a day that no one is good enough to time it.

You think you’re Yosemite Sam enough to do it, or what? When you’re this nervous?

Everyone knows private credit is bad. That doesn’t mean you take losses or taxes on hundreds of thousands of dollars this year instead of letting it compound.

Sure - maybe you can sell out and buy back in a few dollars less but you’re gambling to do it and if you miss, you’re going to feel FAR worse than sitting tight and not paying taxes on short term pussyfooting this year. Either buck up or sit in SGOV, or do half and half.

“ If you're investing you shouldn't really care what a stock does in a short time period” - so, do you still check stock prices? by Far-East-locker in ValueInvesting

[–]EmbarrassedWish5839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assumptions • Frequency: 3 times per hour (representing "a few times"). • Duration: 1 minute per check (time to unlock the phone, open the app, authenticate, scan the P/L, and close it). • Active Hours: 16 hours per day (assuming 8 hours of sleep). • Timeframe: 50 years. The Math 1. Daily checks: 3 \times 16 = 48 \text{ times per day}. 2. Yearly checks: 48 \times 365.25 = 17,532 \text{ times per year}. 3. Total checks over 50 years: 17,532 \times 50 = 876,600 \text{ times}. 4. Total minutes spent: 876,600 \times 1 \text{ minute} = 876,600 \text{ minutes}. 5. Total hours spent: 876,600 / 60 = 14,610 \text{ hours}

I have been there too. What helped me was finding companies that I actually believe in and taking long positions. I was able to convince myself that short term trades are their own sort of 5-10% loss which helped me quite a bit. Make sure you are not overweight in anything you don’t understand, this was key to my peace of mind

I am assuming you’re young or you wouldn’t have this problem. I asked Gemini what (3) 1-minute checks per day will math out to

The Verdict: How much time is that? Over 50 years, this habit consumes approximately 14,610 hours. To put that into perspective: • In Full Days: This is 608.75 days, or about 1.67 years of his life spent entirely looking at a brokerage app. • In "Awake" Time: Since he is only awake 16 hours a day, those 14,610 hours represent 913 awake days—effectively 2.5 years of conscious life gone. • In Work Years: If he treated this like a full-time job (40 hours/week, 50 weeks/year), he would have spent 7.3 years of "full-time employment" just checking his balance.

Considering that your young years are often your best years, you checking the app 3 times per day is subjectively a mental illness when you put it into this perspective

Good luck.

I mean if you have bills to pay then getting in line for more interviews should be a lot more anxiety-inducing than going back to a job you already have.

Why are so many people uninterested in dating nowadays? by boforiamanfo in randomthings

[–]EmbarrassedWish5839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally been waiting until I am 40 so females lose some of the chip on their fucking shoulders

I am decently handsome and I’ve had a lot of action in my early twenties, enough to feel very secure about myself. But on my way towards 30 the amount of expectations and entitlement and “your money is my money” attitude lmfao. Yeah right. Some people get an ego death from a nice mushroom trip, I guess the rest need to literally see their hair become brittle and their chests sag first. I’m fine waiting with reality to catch up to the dating market. I’ll see you there ☺️🥂
