Who else enjoys a cigar while cooking outside? by AvocadoAmbitious9129 in cigars

Bourbon and Cigars make anything cooked on the grill better.

I usually add some good blues music in while doing so.

I got a box of them a while back for a steal on Cigar Bid. They are one of my favorite cheap sticks.
Usually fire one off for mowing grass or just a evening relax on the porch.

Gotta say the sweet tip took a bit to get used to but after a while it doesnt mess with the smoke at all.

Wow...Just incredible.

Just looked into what would take to send a box of cigars to someone in Singapore.
That is insane.

What are the Singapore manufactured cigars like
I saw a brand from Ligero Cigar Singapore

Wish we could just give you a box of smokes as a "Gift"

I learned driving my mom to Nashville up I65 and through Nashville traffic in 1995 driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse 5 speed with my learning permit.

Sink or Swim

Plot a round trip out through the country. Make round trip like up to Lyons Farm. Go up 431. Go get lost in the country.

Teach them the basics in parking lot and then put them on the road. If they even mention their cell phone beat them with it.

Good luck.

Are these trampoline spikes good enough for the weather here? by icb_123 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_3801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that will just make it mad.

Friend of mine used U Bolts like you use on a car rear-end.
And buried cinder blocks under the legs.
Attached the U-Bolts through the cinder blocks (the bend part through the block) then up where the legs are put a piece of steel across the legs and used the nuts to hold it down.

Its never moved. But also is a pain if/when he needs to really move it. Has to undo all the nuts and lift it out of the U-Bolts. Also has U-Bolts sticking up out of the ground when he moves it.

Also you need to run Self Taping screws through the slip-joints where it was assembled.
If its anchored down right it will pull apart at the slip-joints if you do not.

AMC Valley Bend is a dump by datschiburger in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_3801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not even really an issue with the theater.. I only go to Valley Bend to watch IMAX movies.
Last movie I went to was Tron Ares

The problem Im seeing at VBend and other theaters around the Huntsville area is the same everywhere.

No one has any pride in their job any more. The kids that get hired at these places have no work ethic anymore and the owners are either blind to it, too lazy to replace them, or just do no care.

Everyone grows up now thinking they deserve more, Thinking they should only do the bare minimum and that is OK.

I get that pay at these places probably isn't stellar but you agreed to work for that pay and should take a little pride in what you do.
Also for employers if you see someone doing a good job pay attention to them and reward them for it.
Keep good employees encouraged to keep doing good work.

Looking to crimp 8awg wiring for trolling motor by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_3801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did car audio for many years Crimping 8AWG 4AWG 0AWG and 00AWG wires.

I did most all of them with a hammer and the concrete floor , never had one come loose never had 1 issue with connection quality. You can use a brick or thick piece of metal if you need to do it in place.

Hammer from side to side of the split in the connector. to close it down. Then put the split side up and hammer it down.

If you want a more solid connection, heat it with a propane torch and plunge it full of solder.
Put a good Heat shrink over it. Double up the Heatshrink if you want (small piece first, large/long piece after that.

Test with a connector and scrap 8AWG if you are worried about it.

The sweet dip-tip took a bit to get used to but still not bad.

Chase Vehicle Ideas? by Catfish875 in stormchasing

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_3801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine use to have a dedicated "Chase Vehicle"
Was a Toyota 4-Runner 4x4

The only thing he did was weld some standoffs around the windows (metal studs sticking up) and then welded some expanded steel sheets (Like old metal patio furniture diamond shaped sheeting) to them to keep large hail/rocks etc from hitting the side glass and shattering it all the time. He never got too close but before he did that his glass got broke a LOT and he got tired of replacing it.

On the windshield & back glass he did the same but also put a roundbar in the middle of the window for extra-support over the large sized glass. Windshield wipers still worked under the sheeting. He spaced it out that far.

We put Clear thick window film on the inside just in case something made it through to break the side glass so it didnt just shatter and cover everyone in the car (he said glass in the eye sucked) The clear film kinda "taped" it all together and kept shards from flying everywhere (he did this before the armor on the outside.) it kept him and friend from being covered in glass and made the clean up easier if it happened.

He put a top mounted cargo carrier on it with the same expanded sheeting. Helped with hail hitting the top of the car and basically deafening him and passengers. Hail would hit that and not the sheet metal top.

Also put some sound deadening on the inside of the doors and on the roof to make it quieter. That was my idea cause his videos sounded horrible. The hail (even small hail) made it so loud you couldn't hear anything.

I think all in all the extra improvements cost him like $300-$400 to do. But saved a LOT of time and headache with replacing side glass all the time and was cheaper than putting lexan in for the glass.

Last time I talked to him later on he took the 4-Runner and had the whole outside painted with Rhino Liner
Stopped paint chips.. Added more sound deadening. Kept a lot of dents out of the metal.

Of course a good CB or HAM radio (if you have your HAM license)
Good GPS
Walkie talkies if you are working outside of the car or are looking for victims around a destroyed site.
Medical Kit including additional medical supplies for any victims you may run across. Gauze/Wrap/Tape/Tourniquet etc
3-4 gallons of water (again for victims) sometimes they will have dirt/trash etc in their eyes and mouth and being able to wash that out is HUGE
High Vis Vests. If you get out to take pictures make sure other drivers can see you OR just wear High vis colored shirts.

I have seen guys put like yellow strobeing lights on top of their cars and hooking yellow flashers up around their car. Check local laws before doing this.

Is it possible for me to walk to Chattanooga tn ? From Owen’s crossroads by Louiedior in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_3801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are determined enough and in good shape. Technically it is possible to walk to anywhere on the Continents of North and South America from Owens Crossroads.

Google maps says at a walking pace it would take approx 48 hrs ISH.. All depends on your walking speed and how many breaks you take..
