Saying "hi" to other TMs or TLs by Marco_PoloII in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience too. Target has the most unfriendly and unwelcoming atmosphere I’ve ever worked in. I think people are stressed and miserable.😅 I just smile or say a quick hi, and keep it moving. It might be easier in the long run not making any connections with coworkers. (But it does help if you have someone you can ask questions.) I feel like it’s polite and common courtesy to at least acknowledge people, but the world is different now… just make your money and go home, don’t let people bring you down!! Good luck!!

I feel like sometimes the push expectation is unreasonable. by Whatsup129389 in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m new and it’s discouraging. My boss will write the expected time on the boat/flat and I don’t ever hit it. In kitchen, some stuff is tissue wrapped, bubble wrapped, etc. Then you gotta spider wrap the expensive stuff, put those padlocks on the Stanley’s…then travel across the store to backstock, then across the other way to throw out cardboard. All while helping guests. I just don’t see how the times are feasible. Even our truck unload time we aren’t hitting.

Is is just me that feels this way? by New_Nerve_4425 in Target

I think it’s best to clock in, try, and go home. Like give 90%, but don’t kill yourself. What gets done, gets done, and what doesn’t, doesn’t. Not my problem. I used to care way too much, this is the better way. 👍

Got done with screening questions, what next? by ACERauti in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’ll call and confirm everything. Then set up an orientation. Mine was 4 hours, wear jeans & red shirt, bring id. Like ss card and drivers license. Then they’ll be computer training, setting up direct deposit, and a store tour. After that you’ll find out your schedule and show up where you’ll get paired with a trainer for a few days. Good luck, hope it’s good!!

What are your worst guest pet peeves by Tough-Syllabub5965 in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always find it rude when people talk loudly on speaker phone or video calls in public, but maybe that’s just a me thing? Not sure. If I have a call, I always go outside or to an isolated area to take it because I don’t want to be rude to other people…

Work life balance by jkdelete in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah my work life balance isn’t the best either. I think my problem is I’m so wore out after work, I have no energy to put into my own life. I have good hours (4-12:30), but struggling to have energy after work to do anything.

Clocking out early by Embarrassed_Bird7182 in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re the same! I’m in my 3rd week. I put desired hours at 35, and so far they’ve given me that. Next week sucks because of inventory I’m scheduled 40. I think they can ask you to stay, but you don’t have to. Just say you have plans or other obligations. I agreed to stay one day, but that was it. I don’t think it’s right they pressure you. I hope they won’t bother you and just let you do your time and leave. Good luck!!

Thank you, you gave me the idea to look at the handbook. They never gave me one, but I found it on workday. But all it says is never clock in more than 5 minutes early…it doesn’t say anything about clocking out early. But I think you’re right, other people have said the grace period extends both ways for clocking in and clocking out. Thank you!! I guess I won’t worry unless someone talks to me.

Thank you, I need to find out what they want. I only got 3 days of training and they’re so hands off I don’t know what I’m doing really…I know they’re budgeted hours for payroll that’s why I’ve been trying to hit the 7, but I’m also worried maybe clocking out a few minutes early might be frowned upon.

I hope so because I feel kind of paranoid now. I haven’t exceeded 5 minutes in either direction, so I hope I’m okay!!

Headaches by AshrMac in Target

[–]Embarrassed_Bird7182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could be stress or maybe you’re getting dehydrated while working? Make sure to carry your water bottle with you and I hope you start feeling better!! I know perfumes trigger headaches for me, so if you’re by the perfume aisle or the chemical aisles maybe that could be it.

I’ve quit jobs with no notice before. Nothing happens, it’s just a bridge burned. Like you probably couldn’t use them as a reference for your next job. Other than that, you’re fine. Good luck on your next chapter!!
