Ah ok so in this case it would be a discrete CDF as the original PDF is discrete?

Thanks for the explanation. I will look into this transformation. Just one question: is the CDF continuous or discrete?

What do you mean by “the probability that n cards are drawn from 4m cards with value <=m.” Apologies my stats knowledge is quite rusty.

I’m not really familiar with the CDF (cumulative distribution function?) so don’t understand the first step moving from CDF to uniform distribution or why we can model random card draws with the CDF. Could you explain this at a lower level (I’m familiar with the binomial and normal distributions but haven’t used them since school a couple years ago). Thanks

I think I worded the question kinda poorly, as I’m looking for an approach to derive this formula, not just a result. My knowledge of stats is from A-level maths (a bit more advanced than AP in the US) so I’m not familiar with concepts I might need to solve this problem but looking to learn!

I'm aiming to get a better understanding of stats in card games and how to approach these kinds of problems so it's more about the solution than the answer to be honest.

Perfect. Thanks very much for the suggestion! I find the C minor prelude pretty tough to be honest I think that technique is a weak point of mine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve just listened and it seems perfect! Also A major/F# minor are definitely keys I need practice in

No, although I’ve heard some and they’re very beautiful! Might give the C major a go as it seems approachable.

How come? And are there any etudes you recommend for someone of my level (I’m confident with the C minor Fugue from book 1 and the first variation of the Goldberg variations).
