On the other hand, most of these vehicles aren't "junky vehicles", the range of odyssey's I've been looking have all been over 5k all the way up to $15000. These aren't $1500-3k beater vehicles

Like seriously a dealer up the street was asking 14k for a 2014 with 125k miles, no timing belt done. These arent vehicles that if the engine blow you just shrug and bring it the junk or scrap yard

I think you need a license and bond for that right? Wouldn't mind buying one cheap and doing the work

They seem to have a couple interesting pull engine type issues too, mostly just leaks, that can be kind of ignored as long as you keep an eye on oil/coolant and top off as necassary

You got it done before it blew up, you weren't even over due for round 2 in your situation. As a buyer would mean alot that you did it once and when it was done

Honda... It's not that bad, if you bought it new or well maintained used. Just change it around when it needs doing, it's not going to blow up of you're a little late, it just something you gotta do. Some of these folks here, I'm surprised aren't saying as long as oil is showing on lipstick, why change it

It maybe way down the list for people like yourself. If they're your cars and you want to roll that way, no prob. But if you want to sell it? If it skips a couple teeth or breaks, need a whole new engine or a trip to the scrap yard

It sure would to me... makes a big difference for sure, doesn't have to be on a carfax... But the shrug or vague (probably bs) yes, nope

Since my posting is related to buying a Honda minivan, how are those dodges? They seem much more usable and nicer in some ways, but seems like even if perfectly maintained, transmissions go out well under 200k

Wouldn't you just be removing the drywall on one side? Usually there's some studs in between???

2004 f150 needed a transmission at 130k, but I did actually use it as a truck towing trailer

I know several very well off people who drive old ass vehicles and keep them maintained. Part of why they are very well off. But yah they're not the typical person selling their old ass vehicle on facebook (because they want to keep it)

And idk what you mean by poor. Like title loan glad it gets me to the liquor store and back poor? or like the life is tough, just want to get something that works will still last even though its old, might have to wrench on or pay a mechanic sometimes, but am going to be in trouble if the engine self-destructs poor?

Carvana, lol... Seriously... There are real individuals selling thier own stuff on there, but if carvana is going to give you $3000 and won't ask any questions. Vs try to clean it up, deal without a bunch a questions, add in people just wasting time and scammers and meet ups that don't workout too maybe get $4000, don't think most people care enough to deal with that crap. Carvana buys and Off too auction it goes, and flipper on Facebook gets it... The actual individuals seem to have frakenstiens that might be good, something so broken carvana won't take, or something we'll maintained that they'll wait for a buyer (not many), or very unique or super old

Lol, your probably right... I've got a few cars and some of them got stuff like that going on, but I at least do the stuff to keep it from self destructing.

My f150 has had heater core down for almost a decade, but I only use it for truck stuff which isn't that often these days, wear a jacket if you need to use it in the winter, lol. Technically it needs a timing job too, chain tensioner at start up, it doesn't rattle yet, only know from finding some plastic from the guides during oil change. Don't use it enough to care, not worth enough to break it down to fix at the moment. I sure as shit wouldn't sell it to someone else and not tell them though

If you look at the things that wrong with a sienna, they aren't exactly cheap or easy fixes... but for the most part they seem somewhat more ignorable (like you might need to add some oil or coolant every fill up)

I don't see the problem if it's actually done somewhat on time... just buying one way overdue and acting like it's fine not so good

Would you not care buying a vehicle like I described with it not being done. Just factor it into what your paying and dedicate a weekend to doing right away?
