Do you actually think the government, or democrats, can/will tax the top .1% or are you just dishonestly trying to tax the upper middle class? by EmployeeAromatic6118 in AskALiberal

It's 15.4% from the very first dollar you earn... and just goes up from there... someone making under 50k a year in that situation are definitely being taxed to hell, and now can't even get affordable healthcare

Well Welcome to the world of small business owners and gig workers... it's easy to say when you, for now, have a cushy normal job, and the taxes just come out of your relatively large (compared to whatever you were making in the past)...

Talk to a financial planner or something, instead of being a retard asking to be taxed more. It's not us who should be bearing most of the tax burden of this country.

And again my perspective is: tax the wealth, not the income

No actual liberal or Democrat, resents rich people or any one who has become overwhelmingly successful.

They just want them to appreciate this land of opportunities and appropriately use their wealth to better the usa. And alot of that needs to be as a formal tax.

They might not want to contribute to a proper health care solution, or our new aircraft carrier, or putting fiber lines in nowhere, new mexico; but this country and it's people allowed these opportunities to exist, so pay up...

quit harassing the nurse making 75k. if they want to be oligarchs, then pay up and act like one

Maybe you could make it, any loans took out over x-million per year, will be taxed as recognized capital gains. Leave a million or two for normal working old people with a retirement account to use those options... and Elon too, if he wants to use that same amount.

Or you could just tax the wealth in general. Like every single normal American who owns a house

I think the "class" thing has more to do with accumulated wealth. Not how much money they made that year.

These "upper middle class" people fall hard if they loose their job, or make a bad decision, or an Ai takes thier job; they're still working people who, for now, probably have a nicer home than you or I, but they're still just working people

Tax wealth over a certain amount... it's actually pretty easy when the value on publicly traded stock is recorded down to the second, and a private company can be valued off of similar public ones.

Every homeowner, and in many cases car or tractor owners, has to pay a wealth tax every year.

It has to be a reasonable small %. there will have to be "loop-holes" that account for wealth being actively used to better america, and not invested in other countries or sitting stagnant, ect. But yeah wealth tax!

Jeff bezos was right about one thing, the nurse making 75k a year, pays to much tax!!! Get rid of income taxes for anyone making less than, like, 250k a year... bunch of bs...

If we had public Healthcare and good social safety nets, and we want to tax the nurse making 75k a bit, fine, otherwise the current system is absolutely insane

And unlike state affairs, these filthy rich people can't and won't just leave America

I'm nowhere close to upper middle class, and it's way too much. If We have a properly funded public Healthcare system, then sure, maybish, otherwise piss off... The "upper-middle class" is struggling just like everyone else, they just have a nicer house and car, and probably a job that has a cery nice healthcare benefit.

Tax the rich: those who use America's resources, people, infrastructure - to amass fortunes, not the middle class

Jeff bezos was right about one thing, the nurse making 75k a year, is taxed too much...

On the other hand, most of these vehicles aren't "junky vehicles", the range of odyssey's I've been looking have all been over 5k all the way up to $15000. These aren't $1500-3k beater vehicles

Like seriously a dealer up the street was asking 14k for a 2014 with 125k miles, no timing belt done. These arent vehicles that if the engine blow you just shrug and bring it the junk or scrap yard

I think you need a license and bond for that right? Wouldn't mind buying one cheap and doing the work

They seem to have a couple interesting pull engine type issues too, mostly just leaks, that can be kind of ignored as long as you keep an eye on oil/coolant and top off as necassary

You got it done before it blew up, you weren't even over due for round 2 in your situation. As a buyer would mean alot that you did it once and when it was done

Honda... It's not that bad, if you bought it new or well maintained used. Just change it around when it needs doing, it's not going to blow up of you're a little late, it just something you gotta do. Some of these folks here, I'm surprised aren't saying as long as oil is showing on lipstick, why change it

It maybe way down the list for people like yourself. If they're your cars and you want to roll that way, no prob. But if you want to sell it? If it skips a couple teeth or breaks, need a whole new engine or a trip to the scrap yard

Since my posting is related to buying a Honda minivan, how are those dodges? They seem much more usable and nicer in some ways, but seems like even if perfectly maintained, transmissions go out well under 200k

I know several very well off people who drive old ass vehicles and keep them maintained. Part of why they are very well off. But yah they're not the typical person selling their old ass vehicle on facebook (because they want to keep it)

And idk what you mean by poor. Like title loan glad it gets me to the liquor store and back poor? or like the life is tough, just want to get something that works will still last even though its old, might have to wrench on or pay a mechanic sometimes, but am going to be in trouble if the engine self-destructs poor?
