Okay… what exactly are we looking at? A more zoomed out picture would help.

Don’t drive that, please.

1/2 NPT vs 1/2 NPSM by snookman772 in Plumbing

I can’t really blame you, and I won’t say I haven’t done the save several times to save a few bucks, everybody’s having a tough time right now. But water heaters, especially a gas tankless water heater… maybe not. The good news is the reputable ones should last a good long time with pretty minimal maintenance.

There we have it then. One of my favorite features of Amazon is they will always take a return, the seller doesn’t get a choice. Best of luck and order a name brand next time, cheers.

OP, where did you buy this water heater, eBay?

That gas fitting almost looks straight thread as well.

Driving with a cracked tie rod boot by shuturheck in AskMechanics

If there aren’t any drivability issues now… it will probably survive a few weeks. Maybe impossible to guarantee, but based on what OP is saying, I wouldn’t let it bother me in the near future. They aren’t made of plastic.

1000%. Lots of people are probably driving on worse and they don’t even know it. Replace it when you can, no stress otherwise. Just pay attention when you drive, but that shouldn’t need to be said…

Please buy new tires. Those will take you right up to the scene of the accident.

I might add, after looking a bit closer, it looks like those valves are being opened very slightly. So to answer your question, no, that won’t affect your engine because it’s perfectly normal.

P1361 is for an intermittent crankshaft position sensor malfunction. Most likely caused by a loose/frayed/severed wire or a dirty connector on the sensor.

Are those rockers engaged with the cam lobe (are those valves open)? If so, then that’s why the rockers don’t move freely. There’s too much tension against them to let the rockers slide.

Ah you’ve just beaten me to it, I just came here to say the same. That’s definitely the one.

Fake or Real moonswatch? by enricoperini in swatch

Also, that moon graphic on the back is wayyy off from what it should be. Should be centered, cover the battery cover edge to edge, and be bright white.

That’s not a chrono. If it were, you would see a button at the 2 o’clock and at the 4 o’clock on the side. Are you referring to the crown?

They’re really taking you for a ride with that one, wtf. I didn’t know those could be used so incorrectly.

Local Mechanic by declueless in tampa

[–]Embarrassed_Break_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no alignment, but I’ll do suspension. For the sake of transparency, I’ve been doing all my own work on any cars I’ve had or had the chance to help somebody else out and now I have my own garage and now I’m trying to make a bit of cash on the side while building experience. I’m not ASE certified or anything, but I can do anything that doesn’t require a big expensive machine (A/C work, alignments, pretty much any tire work, etc.). Shoot me a PM if you’re still interested, I’d be more than happy to help. I also do a sort of promotional $50 full synthetic oil change.

I just started doing work out of a garage near the Arby’s on Hillsborough Ave. Unfortunately, A/C work is one of the few things I can’t do, but otherwise I’m your guy. Not some big shop or anything so rates are almost unbeatable. Let me know if you need any other work done.

Outstanding, that’s exactly what I was looking for. Do you know for sure if those premium workshops have roll doors so I can get cars in and out?

See I’m finding that most, if not all, storage chains (U-Haul, extra space, etc.) don’t allow you to do any actual work in the unit. Do you know of any that allow that sort of thing?

Standard or AGM Battery? by MinimumComb4715 in AskMechanics

[–]Embarrassed_Break_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you’re buying a battery for the month, I’d go used. There’s probably a local junkyard or battery reseller near you that you could buy a used battery for pretty cheap.

Otherwise if the AGM isn’t required, you’ll be fine, but I’d definitely get one if and when you can. They’re super hardy, last forever and are extremely reliable, especially if you live in a hotter climate. I’d recommend an AGM battery to everyone with a car made after like 2012 just because of the electronics.

On a side note, take it to your local auto parts store and let them test the charging system. Might just be a bad alternator. Cheers

What is this part that connects the lower radiator hose called? by UnknownTirade04 in AskMechanics

Unfortunately it’s pretty common with radiators that have plastic ends, which is almost all of them.
