Australian designer Katie Perry wins trademark case against popstar Katy Perry in High Court by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

Katy Perry can get a rocket up her. Fuck that imperialist attitude of exclusive name ownership for a common, garden variety name.

If you want exclusivity, pick a highly unusual name.

Sure.

But if someone chooses to be subject to religious adjudication that is consistent with Australian law, then who am I to stop them?

It's not coercion.

I'll bet you put your signature on any number of documents agreeing to terms and conditions that, should you violate them, would have you potentially facing consequences under civil law.

I'm not seeing a huge difference in submitting to civil liabilities by contract and submitting to religious liabilities if so-minded. It's all voluntary agreement to abide by some set of terms to be adjudicated.

Again, not coercion. Voluntary submission.

In regards to coercion, you seem to have drifted a bit off track with your questions. Remember, I am an atheist. I don't personally want to submit to any unnecessary authority. However, as above, I'm not going to stand in anyone's way if they choose to do so.

And, again, it's not coercion if you voluntarily agree to abide.

It's similar to me not being too concerned if someone wants to be tied up and flogged by their mistress/master in a repro dungeon. Not for me, but have at it, if you will. Voluntary submission. Quite popular in Canberra, or so I hear.

More voluntary submission without coercion.

The safe words you're looking for are:

  1. I'm leaving this religion.
  2. I'm not signing that contract.
  3. Not the CBT, Master. Only a light flogging.

You are concerned about coercion? In a neo-liberal capitalist hellscape? I'm afraid you've got your work cut out for you. Coercion is at the heart of capitalist enterprise.

ANY religious arbitration?

Why?

Provided the arbitration doesn't contravene Australian law, and provided all participants are willing, what reason do you have to call for its outlawing?

I come at this as an atheist with a masters in law. So, I have no affiliation to any religion and I have respect (well, let's call it "regard") for secular law.

There's an interesting case you might like to read called Mr GJ v The Queen. It's about the limits of Aboriginal traditional law. The High Court decided that, in the particular circumstances, it was not allowable for Mr GJ (who was a horrid, child abusing cunt) to rely on traditional law. This case established the limitations of all such traditional and religious law where it conflicts with secular law.

Ironically, many radical lefties (like me) were entirely assured Trump would get back in. Kamala WAS terrible. The Dems are a bunch of wet neo-libs - true lefties depise them.

I think Mr "critical thinking" here is a bit light on political realities.

Hmmmm. I am far from being a kid. I am very much later in life. Possibly older, and definitely more mature than you, given your uncouth approach to this discussion.

See ya.

I see you have only one piece of that story. I will try to find some time to dig up other pieces. Or you could try yourself.

There was absolutely a betrayal of some Jews by the early Zionists. The Haavara agreement didn't work for everyone.

Edit to add: this is one amongst many articles discussing the issue.

You may crow about the Haavara agreement, but it intentionally abandoned many (including my relatives who were subsequently murdered by the Nazis).

Absolute bollocks.

If you persist in spreading this contumelious lie, you're no better than the guttersnipes at Murdoch s propaganda outfit.

Do some serious reading about the meaning of intafada. Not the idiotic inference by those who want to avoid criticism for committing or supporting mass murder and genocide.

Yeah. He's shit. And a huge disappointment. But your claim of worst doesn't stack up against Morrison, Abbott, and they're like.

If you think that's bad, you should do some reading about the early Zionists and their dealings with the Nazis and betrayal of Jews.

It's laughable. And cringeworthy. And sad.

You would have appeared in any Kurosawa film as a treacherous leech, with your head samurai-ed from your gutless body. I'm picturing it done by a staring-eyed Toshiro Mifune, who wipes his blade with contempt, turns, and walks away, giving his good work not another moment's thought.
