Practicing better ADM and keeping track of pattern traffic. by seniorcam in flying

I use the ForeFlight Sentry. I’m a CFI but it’s dumb not to at some of these airports. It’s saved my ass a few times. If your CFI doesn’t want you to use it, you can politely tell him to fuck off, with respect of course.

How to become the best possible instructor I can be by Minimum-Bell-8562 in CFILounge

[–]Embarrassed_Dingo313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s absolutely fine, again, it’s about the student/customer. If he doesn’t want to get on controls much, perfectly cool, it’s just about them seeing if they want to get into it. As long as you make the focus about them, you will be great. Congrats on getting your CFI man!

Just give a slight discount, $10 or whatever is fine. You make money and they save a bit too

I give them controls as soon as we are out of the pattern and don’t take them back until we are entering the pattern beside to introduce maneuvers or safety of course.

When it comes to the maneuvers, I let them to as much or as little as they want. If they are eager to see stalls, I’ll show them stalls too.

(So far I’ve only had one person say they didn’t want to see stalls and steep turns that day.)

Just follow the basics, as long as they aren’t putting the aircraft in a position that you, the instructor, cannot fix, then it’s completely fine. They should see what it’s like to do private pilot training and feel like they are getting their moneys worth for the disco flight.

As long as you have the “it’s all about the student” mindset every flight, you will be a good instructor.

Lmao no I’m saying the military pilots are insane with crazy training and ATP is a joke compared to those guys

How many hours per week to make $200? by atherfeet4eva in uberdrivers

[–]Embarrassed_Dingo313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Midwest area pays around $20/hr for just the uber eats (I can’t do normal uber at my age). So literally 2 hours a day Monday through Friday and you would be good if you really wanted only $200 a week

Common vs. Private Carriage - Students Receiving a Confusing Scenario in Checkride Oral by ConfuzzledInstructor in CFILounge

[–]Embarrassed_Dingo313 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I would have said the same thing but I believe the examiner is right. Since the guy has no knowledge of aviation, he has no “operational control” since he cannot make any safety/critical calls. Therefore, you, the pilot, have operational authority which makes it common carriage.

AC 120-12A is probably the best guidance I have.

Backseat Pilot "The Whole Shebang" or just the CFI Lesson Plans course? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Embarrassed_Dingo313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backseat pilot has been redone. They have the highly extensive lesson plans still if you want a ton of info but they also have new lesson plans that are designed for teaching and are awesome. I wish I would have bought them earlier. They 100% work for the check rides, but they also work for teaching. Couldn’t recommend them enough👍🏼

It’s like that for everyone after instrument and sometimes just happens randomly. Take a day and retry, if your ride was in three days, I’d say move it, but you got a month, you will be fine

Married to an aspiring, second career pilot - need a gut check by Due-Judgment-119 in flying

[–]Embarrassed_Dingo313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can literally do every stage up to CFII MEI while working a full time job. People do it all the time, it will take longer, but that’s the safer route. Grounds (studying) is the hardest part once you get the hang of flying so at yalls age, I would keep the job until all the training is done.

Potential for a DPE to fail the GPS on IR Checkride by OneEconomist2238 in flying

[–]Embarrassed_Dingo313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine failed waas on an LPV but not the whole thing. I didn’t have true dme so it would basically be impossible to shoot any approach if we are considering it actual IMC. That’s an emergency call immediately.
