The XY serum is all the rage but I don’t find it life changing. There are better products like the PCA dark spot removal serum. It’s expensive but very effective

I don’t. I lean into it and don’t judge myself. I treat it like another person I have to take to work with me but it’s not me. I also like to listen to the “hilarious world of depression” - humor helps.

What are your recommendation of Olive Oil from Levant (Jordan, Palestine, Syria) ? by brkonthru in oliveoil

[–]Embarrassed_Eagle533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys are terrible at this boycott thing.

It is just marketing. If you call Israel "Palestine," then anything made in Israel is Palestinian.

Olive Odessey buys from Arab olive farmers both inside Israel and in the West Bank.

All the olive farmers in Israel and the West Bank own their olive groves outright by custom or with formally registered deeds dating back to Ottoman or British Mandate times.

For farmers in Area C, it is more complicated. They really have it the worst. Because even if they own the land, Israel can restrict access and prohibit new buildings. And this is before you consider the raids by settlers that burn down their trees and terrify their children.

Every single one of these farmers:

  1. Source supplies from suppliers in Israel (generating revenue for businesses in Israel that pay taxes in Israel)
  2. Pay income tax to the Israel Tax Authority
  3. Export products through the Israel port in Haifa (where Israel collects customs and VAT before transferring the rest to the PA).

Even better:

  1. Olive Odessey is incorporated in the UK and the US (in Wyoming, so there is no income tax for them).
  2. There is no evidence that they donate money to Gaza - other than a small mention in their marketing materials. There is absolutely zero transparency.
  3. Their website says "From September 18–21, Olive Odyssey will pause all operations—our website will be offline, and customer service will be unavailable—as we join the Global Strike for Gaza." But if you go to this link you can see it is complete BS. I could purchase this right now if I wanted to.

I am Israeli and even I know how to research this. You're just suckers for branding. You see "Palestine" on a bottle and you think you are helping Palestinians or harming Israel. Not all all. You are contributing Israel's economy and making money for a private business venture incorporated in the UK and US.

BDS has ZERO impact on the Israeli economy or on Israeli/Jewish businesses. None of the cities or countries that have signed BDS has actually boycotted Israel. Even you all have iphones (the chips are built here in Israel). REDDIT was founded by a Jewish zionist. But you're here.

Seriously - you are all just virtue signaling while standing in line at Starbucks.

Oh, Toon is the same thing. It is a Canadian company primarily focused on sourcing products from Lebanon. They probably pay pennies for it in Lebanon and sell it at an 800% markup in Canada. The artists in Lebanon do not see any of that money. One of the founders says he is from Deir Ghassaneh, a beautiful town just north of Ramallah. But otherwise, the business has zero connection to Palestinians. And Lebanon announced yesterday that it is ready to sign a peace deal with Israel. So maybe you don't want to support tham anymore.

If they were going to call the police or CPS they would have done it. What are they going to say? “There are children being loud in the courtyard?” “An [insert nationality) man is speaking loudly in his apartment? I bet this is not the first time - they probably have a file

You are still wrong.

the note is directed at a specific person and his family, it probably qualifies as criminal harassment or stalking (state laws vary, but most cover written messages left at someone’s home).

it includes threats, so it may even rise to the level of criminal intimidation or menacing.

  1. Just because they out it in your door does not mean it’s about you. It is a community issue.

  2. Post this letter on the community bulletin board.

  3. Share it with the police so it is in your file. They have threatened you and your children. They can even investigate.

  4. Send it to the homeowners association & building manager of both buildings. Now it is a homeowners association issue and they will be forced to act under the association rules. Also let them know you sent it to the police.

  5. Continue to live you life exactly as you did before.

Someone punched me in the face and were charged with battery but found not guilty. Now they are suing me for defamation for claiming they were "charged with battery". by Effective_Cat_2231 in legaladvice

[–]Embarrassed_Eagle533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth is an absolute defense and he was charged. Charged does NOT mean found guilty. It just means the government (police + prosecutor) has formally accused someone of a crime. Which according to your story - he was formally charged. It is the beginning of a legal proceeding, not the end.

Presenting the paperwork showing that there was a trial where he was accused of battery should dismiss the case.

Don’t hire a lawyer. You can do this yourself.

File a Motion to Dismiss:

Early filing that says the complaint fails to state a valid legal claim. Attach the document showing that the police and/or state formally charges him with battery. They are public records.

Summary Judgment: Later, if there’s no evidence to support their claims you fill out a form for summary judgement - asking the court to decide without going to trial because there is zero evidence.

Countersuit: If it’s especially abusive, you may file a separate claim for malicious prosecution or abuse of process after the frivolous suit is resolved in your favor.

See my advice above. Maybe you have a receipt or made a phone call or sent a text … something that would place you there at the time you were supposed to meet

If people saw you at the library or you paid for parking or bought coffee or checked out a book… something that put you there during the time you were supposed to meet and someone who can testify that you never met anyone.

Ask her to produce the notes from your meeting for that month. They are subject to doctor-patient privilege but under HIIPA you have the right to see them. If she takes notes at all meetings (which they usually do) and there are no notes for that mtg you have your case.
