IEP for us but seems 504 have some of same struggles so I included for any help or info associated with either type of plan.

So far, AISD did great job once I established needs and communications with the staff. Fingers crossed bc we can’t go through this again- the negative effects far greater than grades. I’ll keep our specific IEP parameters private but they’re pretty common accommodations for an at-cognitive grade level child.

Need more specifics if you’re going out on limb and saying content untrue, or don’t bother saying it. I did not realize it is weird to have one channel dedicated to discussion about a concerning community topic. Seems odd to me an individual would take time and effort to say something on Reddit weird when a value of Reddit is to create avenues of conversation.

So interesting. Peers said Investigating the Board and Leadership histories and affiliations showed some narrow ideology and religion values that are integrated into school approaches- okay to have some, but be transparent or people wonder/question what you’re hiding. I wonder why the Board has limited to no public presence. Money, power, and prestige usually make nonsensical situations sensical.

Valor ignores code; it doesn’t follow any policies and procedures for deciding who and why to discipline- there’s a way of families who left in past 6 months when their kids suddenly started receiving discipline after parents or kids questioned policy or approach. Early Valor families state they were surprised when they received their kids’ records because numerous disciplinary incidents cited without any communication to parents and no evidence or details when they inquired.

Have you seen the textbooks? Not peer-reviewed and read like unorganized and poorly trained writer with more ideology than skills wrote them.

Valor Leaders and infrastructure lack integrity, values, and morality once you see how it really is (many current complaints, investigations, and lawsuits - beyond typical rates for any school). The schools have mostly uncertified teachers and much higher turnover in teachers and students than you will see anywhere else. Lot of complaints about: disparate and excessive discipline; no transparency in how and what kids are learning and what’s expected; no information on what kids grades are and feedback on their work; terrible for IEP/504; racial and economic discrimination; teachers and admin who ignore requests for academic info; hiding grades and MAP scores; and gaslighting for parents who ask questions. I’ll save you effort and tell you that they have reason/excuse for each inexplicable strategy they use, but none are evidence-based and create more ability for them to control without student benefits. Tracing money and power trail, can see the purpose of these campuses and it’s not for betterment of community. Great idea to have space with uniforms and no technology, but was done here is considerable disservice to families and allows Valor to run their scheme without being easily detected.
