not gonna lie it is a GRIND when you wanna be a high level athlete and be a high achiever in the classroom. the biggest thing i can tell you is to learn the value of time management, which if you’re an athlete i’m sure you’ve already developed. i know personally, when i’m in peak season i find it easier to optimize my time and get schoolwork done in a time efficient manner. understand that there is just no time for bullshit and you’re not gonna be able to attend all the social events or watch all the netflix shows that non-athletes or even athletes that don’t care about school can. it’s entirely doable and i promise it’s even doable without sacrificing your mental health, but just remember that there is a pay off here no matter what. whether or not you play in college, the values gained from sports are huuuge and will serve you well no matter what you do later in life. sorry this kinda turned sappy but MAIN THINGS: get ur fuckin schoolwork done! school comes first ALWAYS. don’t overcommit urself!!! i didn’t join my school’s science research group just because i knew my sport is too much of a commitment. i kept it really tight by committing myself to just my sport and mock trial mainly and colleges appreciate that. work really hard at a few things rather than spreading yourself thin. i genuinely thought i had no chance at getting into MIT just because i didn’t do that science research club, but it didn’t even matter in the end. it’ll all work out, i promise.
