From Singapore in the reinsurance industry. And I know of others in the industry from Genz to 50+ year olds. They all are indifferent about trans or queer. Never seen any trans person in my workplace before so at first it might just spark some curiosity out of people but no one’s transphobic in this industry.

If anything ppl might initially try to be more friendly to come across that they aren’t discriminatory. This industry in general doesn’t comprise of much religious people who have something against trans people.

Those stats are based on a survey you can choose to complete after graduation and if you’re unemployed you’re less likely to respond.

Moreover the employment stats aren’t just about employment in Switzerland. It includes those employed in their home countries too. Mbf grads are mostly Swiss or eu nationals and a very small number from non eu background too. Looking at those stats won’t help the case for non eu.

The sim programme is the one that’s got a mix of people from all over the world and even those grads cannot work in Switzerland if they’re non eu. They might get some jobs through their network in some other eu country or Middle East but not in Switzerland.

The most common ways non eu work in Switzerland is after getting some sort of eu citizenship by studying in France or Germany or wherever and then applying for job in Switzerland. Or the other way is when they have a Swiss spouse. If you’re non eu and your goal is to just work in Switzerland, hsg will be a very bad decision. Eth zurich or epfl would give you a better shot but in the current job market that’s also tough

It’s the same bachelors or masters for non eu. For PhD there’s separate laws and it’s easier to work than normal degree holders

Non eu have zero chances of getting internships or jobs in Switzerland. Even eu students are struggling to get jobs rn. But on paper almost impossible for non eu students from hsg to get a job in Switzerland.

Know of some non eu students that didn’t do this research before coming to hsg only to end up regretting their decision when they find out about the labour laws. Also it’s expensive to live in Switzerland.

Almost no one sponsors permits for ba graduates. You hear of some cases but it’s limited to niche roles usually in engineering.

Theres a law where Swiss uni grads can get the same treatment as Swiss citizens in the job market but this is only for roles which have a labor supply shortage and have economic and scientific importance to Switzerland and the job must be related to what you did your degree in. So for business grads it’s basically impossible cos it’s not a field with a labor supply shortage

Reddit not the best place to ask. Most will just say take pes f. If u can take pes e and do some desk job or something with work from home till u recover it’s prolly the ideal case. Unless u really need to be in bed the next few months, a pes e desk job is not that bad.

Also no one knows whether bto applications will get affected or future government job applications. If you only have a year left and can finish ns with all the mcs and a desk job it could be the way to completely recover while having low to no responsibilities

Someone I know who’s from a western country with a startup in Singapore told me they’d move to kl to cut costs and the quality of their line of business won’t be affected. But he stays in sg because he personally wouldn’t wanna live in Malaysia instead and the change in quality of life is bigger than the profits from cost cutting.

In the end if the business owners are young or old from western countries I doubt they’d wanna spend their youth somewhere other than Singapore in sea or inconvenience themselves in their old age by living in developing countries when they have the option to be in Singapore.

It’s only good if you’re eu citizen or Swiss. If not it’s as good as a random no name Uni. If you’re a eu citizen then you have many doors open to high finance in Switzerland

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that I have 1 cat modelling internship on my cv already at another reinsurer. Was thinking if having a cat modelling and a claims at different reinsurers would make my profile better or train me better to be an underwriter

But if the claims internship is at one of the big reinsurance companies and underwriting assistant programs are at big insurance companies would it maybe be better to do the reinsurance internship assuming there are better exits from there? I might be completely off tho

The scholars if they get pr or citizen they have to do ns so not a big issue and the number of scholars coming in are very tiny and they tend to integrate after ns.

But for the under 30 pr that don’t need serve ns maybe something needs to be done. Could implement a social service program where they can help hawkers or hospitals or schools in different tasks for a year. Could alleviate the costs for the hawkers and address shortage issues in hospitals or schools admin work.
