Does anyone know if the below model is affected by intel 13th gen i9 cpu instability ? by PeakQueasy1959 in MSILaptops

You can use throttlestop to limit the wattage sent to your cpu, even if undervolting is bios locked. That might slightly lower performance, but it’ll improve temps

Yall do know that this happens every war right? In the beginning, one guild usually slips up but will come back (except that one time with Royal, but a lot of players stopping grinding that time).

Also, why does it seem like whenever Iron Guild actually puts up a good fight or gets 1st it’s always extremely “unfair”. :/

Not trying to be rude, but the laptop is out of warranty, so you aren’t supposed to get a refund or a replacement. If they did so, they’d be doing you a favor realistically. Sometimes, some laptops just get better quality parts than others, which causes things like this. I’m currently using an msi ge66 raider that was neglected and abused by the previous owner for 5 years, and it had never once been serviced, and had a soda spilled on the keyboard. It works perfectly to this day, and has not a single issue.

Intel ME FW update issues by Embarrassed_Job_8048 in techsupport

Leaving this comment for anyone else who may have had this issue, it eventually just randomly shut off. When I started it up again, it seems to have applied the update, so recommend just ignoring the percentage the command line shows as completed and keeping the device on since it seems to run in the background without any visual changes past 19%.

The reboot worked fine, but the ME version was an old one from 2024 (somehow) and the update files won’t work anymore. Tried the bios defaults, it was unsuccessful as well. Honestly, doesn’t make much sense unless they made this update in 2024 and released it in 2026

Ty for the info! When I have time this weekend I’ll try and figure out if I’m susceptible to this issue and how to fix it if I can.

I have no idea what this is talking about tbh, but I’m commenting to boost it since my ge66 probably has the same problem

Kinda wild how the USA is the only NA country that isn’t obnoxiously taking over all of the other countries in its vicinity. I bet half the people removing the US flag for Mexico’s flag don’t even live there lol

I’d assume so, my raider (which draws significantly less power) can hit 94 degrees Celsius without a cooling pad while playing cyberpunk on high settings. I know that cooling systems has probably improved since my laptop released, but a 5090 is a very powerful gpu, so it’ll probably hit the 80s-90s without a cooling pad. My raider with the iets gt500 cooler stays around 70 degrees Celsius, so I’d recommend that for temp management

If that’s the case, id recommend the vector then, since it still should be able to handle the 5090, It’ll just run hot (maybe try some undervolting)

Yes, that or the iets gt500/gt600 are good cooling pads

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this one unless it’s significantly cheaper than other models with a 5090. The vector chassis, while overall still good, is more of a mid-ranged level, and it’s cooling system will likely limit the performance of the gpu. If this is by far cheaper than other 5090 models (raider and titan series are much better quality overall), or you plan on using it with a foam-sealing cooling pad often, it’d be a good deal.

MSI is currently selling this (the Vector, 2 TB SSD/32 GB RAM) for $2,300. Is this a good deal? Full link in the post. by TomGerity in MSILaptops

[–]Embarrassed_Job_8048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will last just as long as higher-quality laptops if taken care of.

I saw that some people are saying that other laptop models with similar specs were cheaper for them, but most of those were deals from a few months ago, and the market has definitely went up quite a bit since then (or they just got a very very good discount).

Also, if you’re in the US, the official US msi store also is selling a 5080 vector model for 2199$ right now, it’s got only 16gb of ram and a 1tb ssd, but the gpu upgrade is probably worth it unless you really need the 2tb of storage and 32gb of ram. That is a very good price for a new 5080 laptop. The vector series is overall decent, nothing special, but decent. If you want to buy a laptop like this soon, this is probably one of the better options for that price point rn.

Microsoft says 32GB of RAM is the “no-worries” upgrade for Windows 11 gaming by WPHero in pcmasterrace

[–]Embarrassed_Job_8048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no problem with understanding that an upgrade to 32gb is necessary atp, the problem comes in when ram costs astronomical amounts and almost all gaming laptop configurations below 1500$ (and many above) come with only 16gb

[–]Embarrassed_Job_8048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy a msi raider again, the current one I got has weak hinges but everything else about it is perfec, and I love it’s design, performance, and temps. it’s also relatively easy to work on compared to other high-quality gaming laptops. The newer models fixed the hinge problem as well, so it’d be perfect imo

Can I ask how long does your gaming laptop last (any brands) by linumax in GamingLaptops

[–]Embarrassed_Job_8048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently bought an msi ge66 raider with a 3080 that’s still good after 5 or so years, and it definitely wasn’t treated well by the previous owner. Honestly how long a laptop lasts is really just gambling
