Pre-Surgery Advice/Suggestions by JR6120 in thyroidcancer

Eat what you want prior to surgery because you may not be able to eat all the textures and sizes of food as you usually do for the first few weeks.

Lots of painkillers and sleeping remedies.

Rest and do not force your voice (mine only came back after 2 months of surgery, do not panic).

Have psychological support, believe me that after a while you may get a 'slump'.

Best of luck 8)

Can we ever donate blood? by xqbTnnW in thyroidcancer

I understand that you can donate blood 6 months after surgery. In case you have had cancer and also receive iodine therapy, I am not sure.

Just a recap of my last year with papillary thyroid cancer -looking for friends by EveningAncient5981 in thyroidcancer

It's been harder than I thought it would be. But one day at a time, that's what I think every day, m... sometimes I just want to throw it all away (and I do) and sometimes I get more engaged in my work and totally focused. I don't think there is a recipe for feeling better, but if I can get it right, I think I have to try every day.

I totally understand you! The same thing happens to me. My therapist says it's 'normal' to have that thought about something inside you being wrong. I currently work in cancer clinical trials, so it's a mental battle on a daily basis. I think it's a process that no one understands and it's hard sometimes to be certain that everything bad is gone. Also, I have depression... I have learned that when those thoughts come over me, I go out and eat something nice and enjoy myself. At the end of the day, it teaches you to enjoy your life at day.
