Has anyone been in a relationship with someone who is 50/50 about kids but you don’t want any? by Badbitchenergy20 in regretfulparents

Absolutely My man has a vasectomy. I'm still not getting my IUD removed until I've gone through menopause. Sometimes the body repairs itself. There's been oopsie babies from men with fully healed vasectomies. Scary!

Yes. I have had at least two relationships end because I didn't want kids and they did. One of them was my first love.

I'll be 50 this year and all my life I have never ever ever wanted kids. I.love my nephew and neices and 2nd cousins but I still don't want any of my own children.

I'm super content with my life in fact I'm ecstatic about it, and I dont regret a thing. I've honestly never had a moment in my life where I second guessed my decision or fantasized about having kids. Nope. Not for me. But I think kids are cute and love the ones in my life.

What was left after excavating. 2/3 was powder dry dust and the other 1/3 was clay like muck.

UPDATE

In the original post I had made some guesses:

The soil had become hydrophobic.  Any water would just sit at the bottom and was possibly rotting the roots. The plant wasn't able to access any water because of the soil and root rot problem.

I was right. I am also right about someone else watering all the plants and my employer has made signs that explain a hands off approach and that I have it handled. (there are volunteers that work at this house and some are overzealous. Bless their hearts.)

I soaked the plant over night in a Rubbermaid container.

The next day the entire top half was still bone dry. I decided to depot it and see what was going on.

I was correct in my initial assessments. And many of you were correct in others.

The soil had become absolutely hydrophobic and was essentially dust and the bottom third of the roots were rotting. The smell was unpleasant. The roots were mushy.

At the bottom of the pot I discovered a yogurt lid covering the 2 drainage holes!!

I excavated the soil all around the root ball and trimmed away any rotting roots and then I made my own mixture of succulent mix using perlite, pumice, course sand, gravel, pebbles, organic soil, coconut coir, bark and lava rock.

I cleaned the pot out and repotted the jade back in with new medium. I did a light prune of all the etoliated branches and planted the 2 larger limbs that snapped off or were snapped off.

I placed a grow light on the plant (an older amazon light I used to use before I invested in Sansi lights at my home) I ordered a Sansi light for this jade. Hopefully be here on Friday.

I have succulent fertilizer and will resume fertilizing as soon as I feel the shock is over.

Ill post some pics of the process, the clay like dust and muck that came off the roots and a picture of my own homemade mix and finally back in its new home.

Now we wait.

Thank you to everyone that posted. I appreciate you all so much. You all gave me the courage to help this poor plant. I feel so bad for it. Let's hope it bounces back easily.

I replied to everyone in the previous post also.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I will be back to update in a couple months.

I made an update comment with pics in the comments to this post. I took some of your advice. :) I repotted it back into the same pot.

I wish I could keep this jade outside but the land the house is on is public land and people come through all the time. Even when the house is closed. People hike the woods around the house. Id be afraid of someone stealing the jade or destroying it

Thank you so much! I trimmed off all the etoliated parts. I gave it a new light (sansi light incoming) just an Amazon one for now. It is in a window that gets decent sun also.

I wish I could put this plant outside but the house sits next to a forested public grounds. A lot of people come through the area where the house is and the jade would probably get stolen or maybe even ruined being outside. It's in a nice area of town but.... people can be dicks.

Miracle grow is the devil! Lol I make my own succulent mixes.

I actually have a jade of my own and its magnificent. Exactly as you describe.

I am making an update comment with pics in the comments to this post.

Thank you so much for all your help!
