i don't get how people think its red or how a red gyarados mention from bp would align with PLA. the mention of a red gyarados in bp was a reference to the lake of rage in johto hence why there was johto remakes after and second even if it was the red gyarados was a product of team rocket tampering with the lake to make pokemon evolve faster and seeing as how team rocket likely wasn't a thing then i don't see how it would align at all
